22 oz bottle. Pours a mostly clear copper golden color and topped by a by off white head of foam that settles in quickly to a thin film and leaves spots of lace around the glass. The aroma shows big notes of juicy orange and grapefruit citrus and fresh ginger spice to go with notes of pine resin and a toasted caramel malt base. The citrus and ginger combination is nice. The flavor follows and shows more of the fresh ginger along with the orange, grapefruit, and tangerines from the citrus hops. The toasted bread and caramel malts offer up sweetness while the citrus hops add ample bitterness to the back end. Medium bodied with lively carbonation that leads to a lengthy ginger and bitter sweet citrus finish. I love ginger in ipas and this one was well done and not over the top with it. Nice beer. Bomber. Was worried the ginger would take over too much, but I was pleasantly surprised. The ginger actually added another citrus layer to the aroma. A whole bomber of this was a bit much to take on solo, but I’m still happy I got it. Nice. Darwenus (1136) - Virginia, USA - OCT 19, 2016
This version of Big Eye is good but I don’t enjoy it as much as the regular release. It pours cloudy orange, there is a good deal of foam. The ginger is strong on the aroma, but the fairly juicy, strong IPA aroma of regular Big Eye is still there. The Ginger is front and center on the flavor, too, although the hops aren’t completely drowned out in the finish. I was a little tired of the ginger by the end of the 22 ounce bottle. Draft at Ballast Point. Orange golden pour. Aroma has ginger spice, pine and citrus. Taste of soft ginger, pine, malt and grapefruit. Tasty, ginger works well here. Ibrew2or3 (8614) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - AUG 29, 2016
22oz bomber pours up with a clear deep gold body that has copper hues and supports a nice looking tan head of foam. The aroma offers up grapefruit, danky spicy onions, a dash of pineapple and then faint soft ginger spice in the background. The taste begins with a pleasing rush of juicy grapefruit, bitter grapefruit and a spicy onion like hoppiness. It then quickly runs into a fairly firm ginger sensation taking this to midway. Into the finish the spicy onion blends with a modest degree of juicy pineapple. There’s a solid level of ginger in here (well, not really in the aroma) and I thought it was going to be too much. It seems it isn’t or after 10oz my palate adjusted.

Sampled on draft at Hough’s this beer poured a bright golden color with a large foamy yellow-white head that lingered and left incredible lacing. The aroma was bitter, chalky and had citrus and perfume notes. The flavor was bitter, chalky, ginger powder, perfume and harsh fruity hops. Long finish. Medium body. Poured from a bottle, San Diego. No hint of ginger in the aroma, which is weak, but very hoppy. Beautiful amber, mild foamy head with good carbonation. Putting ginger in an IPA is a no-brainer, but I don’t even taste it! Just a hoppy IPA with a light mouthfeel. ansalon (3846) - Stockholm, SWEDEN, SWEDEN - AUG 3, 2016
Pours cloudy apricot with a fairly large off white head. Aromas of caramel, peach, ginger, apricot, herbal notes. Taste is fruity and malty with prominent citrusy notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation.

$4.99 bomber from Wine Warehouse. Pours slightly hazy golden-amber with a giant beige-yellow head. Smell is ginger, dust, citrus, caramel. Taste is ginger, citrus, dust, caramel, licorice. I don’t love it, but it’s interesting. Beerman6686 (6607) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 22, 2016
Poured an orange with a white head. Aroma of ginger and old hops. Flavor similar, blah.
