Draft at Ei8ht Ball, served in a flight. Pours a cloudy gold with a white head that laces the glass while settling into a ring and film. Definite ginger and pepper spice, with citrus zest, grass, straw, and some pale and sweet malts. Light-bodied, with a bitter, spicy mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Now that Ballast Point has blitzed the market with these variants of their standards, I cant help but think these are gimmicks. The standards have been such high-quality beers and the bases are getting lost under really strong adjuncts. Theyre not all bad, per se, but they sacrifice depth and nuance to serve the variant.

3.5/5 on appearance, nice medium brown appearance with solid foamy head. Smells great.. like your typical quality IPA, with a hint of sweet ginger (which I may not have suspected if it werent mentioned). Balanced.. nice malt and citrusy hops. Ginger just a little present, mostly in the aftertaste. Average IPA bitterness, not too much carbonation. I like it.

bubbleflubber (2204) - Swannanoa, North Carolina, USA - JUN 12, 2016
Pours orange into the glass, with a large foamy eggshell head that leaves thick soap lacing. The nose is of candied ginger. Flavors have lots of ginger spice overtop of cracker malts and some caramel/touch of and finishing of heavy ginger spice. Medium-bodied and complex, its definitely an interesting take on the IPA genre, thats for sure. Will probably be a hit or miss, depending upon the taster.
