Pours hazy orange with a yellowish head. Smells of pine, citrus, and ginger. Taste is piney with a subtle spiciness. Full-bodied with a smooth texture and average mouth-carbonation, Ballast Point Ginger Big Eye finishes with a ginger kiss. phaleslu (10126) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUL 12, 2016
Draft at Ei8ht Ball, served in a flight. Pours a cloudy gold with a white head that laces the glass while settling into a ring and film. Definite ginger and pepper spice, with citrus zest, grass, straw, and some pale and sweet malts. Light-bodied, with a bitter, spicy mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Now that Ballast Point has blitzed the market with these variants of their standards, I can’t help but think these are gimmicks. The standards have been such high-quality beers and the bases are getting lost under really strong adjuncts. They’re not all bad, per se, but they sacrifice depth and nuance to serve the variant. 3.5/5 on appearance, nice medium brown appearance with solid foamy head. Smells great.. like your typical quality IPA, with a hint of sweet ginger (which I may not have suspected if it weren’t mentioned). Balanced.. nice malt and citrusy hops. Ginger just a little present, mostly in the aftertaste. Average IPA bitterness, not too much carbonation. I like it. Art (3217) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 20, 2016
Brews n chews. Pours a cloudy yellow color. Aromas of ginger and earthy hops. Maybe a bit stale at this point. trevor211 (1681) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUN 19, 2016

Note: Bottle 650 ml at a De Klomp tasting. Reviewed 2016-06-18.
Pours orange into the glass, with a large foamy eggshell head that leaves thick soap lacing. The nose is of candied ginger. Flavors have lots of ginger spice overtop of cracker malts and some caramel/touch of and finishing of heavy ginger spice. Medium-bodied and complex, it’s definitely an interesting take on the IPA genre, that’s for sure. Will probably be a hit or miss, depending upon the taster. shadey (2125) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - JUN 10, 2016
22oz bottle. Amber orange. Little ginger in aroma. Lots of malt. Nice ginger flavors. Well balanced. Drake (13662) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 31, 2016
Bomber from Beer Run. Clear amber, large foamy off-white head, good retention. Aroma of ginger, pale malt, mild tea and mint. The taste is strong ginger, pale crackery malt. Thin bodied. Basically ginger juice.
