COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ten different malts and six different hops (Ahtanum, Cluster, and Spalt to name a few) combine to create this full-flavored, small beer. Even Keel features a silky malt backbone and a bright hop flavor and aroma that come from the late kettle additions and dry hopping with 1.5 pounds per barrel. Even more layers of flavor are created with fermentation being done by two strains of yeast. This session ale is herbaceous with additional citrus aromas of lemon and grapefruit. The orange to copper hue draws you in and the low alcohol volume keeps you coming back for more.

Poured from a can. Im tempted to give this beer a perfect score just because the quality of flavors and richness defy 3.8%?! Looks beautiful, technically sound in clarity with a healthy pillowy head. Malt is smooth and rich, nose is up in my grill with an aggressive west coast theme in the entire sensory realm. Damn BP..damn.

UPDATED: JUL 21, 2016 Can. A- Subtle pine, caramel malt, mango, citrus, stone fruits. A- Amber color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Subtle bitterness, citrus, tropical fruits. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- This is light! About as session as it gets. Very balanced between the bitterness, malt, and notes of citrus. There was nothing that stood out and made me say wow, other than wow, this is solid and I could drink a ton.

With an ABV of only 3.8%, Even Keel is laid-back, even by Session IPA standards. With a modest 40 IBUs the bitterness scale is similarly "even." Thats the kind of result youd expect with 10 malt varieties, 6 hop varieties, and 2 yeast strains. Small beer doesnt always mean a scaled-down brewing process. Golden pour. As youd think, theres a large dosage of lemon, grapefruit, and pine. However, dont be surprised to note some malty sweetness. Crisp and slightly sticky texture. If all-day enjoyment is your thing, Even Keel is one of Ballast Points best.

This is probably one of my favorite session ipas. The aroma is really crisp and the taste is very hoppy with a nice bite of bitter. No really strong characteristics populate this beer but its got a nice strong generic hop aroma and taste that seems very fresh. Its not really overly complicated, which is really within the style. Plus the low alcohol is a great way to mow the yard and not cut off your toes.

Pours clear orange with a large white head. Smells juicy with hints of pine. Taste is fruity with some solid bitterness. Light-bodied with a wet texture and average mouth-carbonation, Ballast Point Even Keel finishes with a lingering juicy bitterness.

Bottle from Bottl3.5hop, Stockholm. Hazy amber with a large white head. Aroma of mango, some pineapple, citrus and light caramel. Similar taste, also some malt. The body was medium as was the bitterness. A good Session IPA.

It pours crystal clear golden copper with a beige head. The aroma has pine, grapefruit, toasty/cracker malt and some floral notes. It has a light body with a lot of moderate intensity carbonation. The taste is on the woody papery side with cracker and citrus zest. The finish is quite bitter. Pretty solid for a 3.8% beer. Think I prefer the mango version, but both are solid.

Light copper with a nice off white foam. Grapefruit all the way, clementine, mango, slight caramel.A little too bitter, very dry. Medium body, creamy with a lively carbonation.
