COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ten different malts and six different hops (Ahtanum, Cluster, and Spalt to name a few) combine to create this full-flavored, small beer. Even Keel features a silky malt backbone and a bright hop flavor and aroma that come from the late kettle additions and dry hopping with 1.5 pounds per barrel. Even more layers of flavor are created with fermentation being done by two strains of yeast. This session ale is herbaceous with additional citrus aromas of lemon and grapefruit. The orange to copper hue draws you in and the low alcohol volume keeps you coming back for more.

Draught @ the Blind Burro, San Diego, CA. Pours a hazy golden amber colour with a large foamy head. Aroma of floral hops, citrus and some biscuit. Flavour of crisp citrusy bitterness, quite strong biscuit maltiness, pine and mild sweetness. Light bodied. Refreshing, but maybe a bit too malty.

Athens, Ga. - Five Points Bottle Shop - Atlanta Hwy. - 12 oz can. Medium copper pour, slightly hazy, soft white head. Decent floral aroma with some spruce accents. Flavor has a nice subtle bitterness to it with some muted citrus undertones, light caramel, a bit of nuttiness and just a hint of mint. Mouthfeel is full and nicely textured. Good session material.

Can at World of Beer, Savannah. Head is initially small, mostly diminishing. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (resin, grapefruit), with a note of diacetyl. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately to heavily bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately astringent. A rough, raw, overly bitter example with nothing much to offer in the nose other than the usual resin-grapefruit hop odor common to most American pale ales. Some diacetyl doesnt help matters either. This one required a surreptitious visit to the restroom to dump it in the sink so I could move on to something else.
