Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice..that’s what hits you initially. Massive amounts of citrus dominate this one. It’s just so fresh. Pine, dryness, grapefruit just make this beer so fresh. Session ipa’s are the thing right now and this a cut above the rest. Ballast Point is one of those breweries that you can trust to make an all around awesome beer. I hate to say it because I have as of late but this might be the best session ipa. DuchessOfIowa (161) - Iowa, USA - JUL 31, 2016
Poured from a can. I’m tempted to give this beer a perfect score just because the quality of flavors and richness defy 3.8%?! Looks beautiful, technically sound in clarity with a healthy pillowy head. Malt is smooth and rich, nose is up in my grill with an aggressive west coast theme in the entire sensory realm. Damn BP..damn. MetalNHopHead (2191) - Lincoln, Nebraska, USA - JUL 13, 2016
With an ABV of only 3.8%, Even Keel is laid-back, even by Session IPA standards. With a modest 40 IBU’s the bitterness scale is similarly "even." That’s the kind of result you’d expect with 10 malt varieties, 6 hop varieties, and 2 yeast strains. Small beer doesn’t always mean a scaled-down brewing process. Golden pour. As you’d think, there’s a large dosage of lemon, grapefruit, and pine. However, don’t be surprised to note some malty sweetness. Crisp and slightly sticky texture. If all-day enjoyment is your thing, Even Keel is one of Ballast Point’s best.
