With an ABV of only 3.8%, Even Keel is laid-back, even by Session IPA standards. With a modest 40 IBU’s the bitterness scale is similarly "even." That’s the kind of result you’d expect with 10 malt varieties, 6 hop varieties, and 2 yeast strains. Small beer doesn’t always mean a scaled-down brewing process. Golden pour. As you’d think, there’s a large dosage of lemon, grapefruit, and pine. However, don’t be surprised to note some malty sweetness. Crisp and slightly sticky texture. If all-day enjoyment is your thing, Even Keel is one of Ballast Point’s best. Cybercat (6331) - Georgia, USA - NOV 7, 2014
Comes out of the tap a beautiful golden Amber - not much head, but that is an artifact of the pour. Aroma is SERIOUSLY hoppy - like getting a good whiff of fresh-cut pine, evergreem and woody, plus fruity hints. Bold flavor makes you feel as though you’re drinking a liquid pine tree. This is a brewski for serious hop fans! Fruity and malty hints come through as well. Texture is firm and very lively and sassy, leaving a woody evergreen finish. Get on an even keel if hops are your bag! SPDickerman (1315) - Texas, USA - JUL 8, 2016
Pours clear orange with a large white head. Smells juicy with hints of pine. Taste is fruity with some solid bitterness. Light-bodied with a wet texture and average mouth-carbonation, Ballast Point Even Keel finishes with a lingering juicy bitterness. maltman53 (472) - Corrales, New Mexico, USA - MAR 1, 2016
This is just a real pleasant beer - session or not. Bottle pour light orange with a nice, persistent lace. Nice tropical nose, followed by a crisp, well-balanced mid- and finish palate. Overall, BP is just crushing it when it comes to IPAs with added flavors. Cavie (4874) - Arlington, Texas, USA - APR 22, 2015
Can. Appearance is orange to copper. Aroma is a lovely bouquet of fresh hops, malt, citrus and spice. Flavor matches, and is quite lovely!

12 oz. can from SoHo Organic Market, Elizabeth City, NC. Dark orange pour with a frothy off-white head. Nice piney and grapefruit hop aroma with light caramel malts. The taste is bright and moderately bitter with piney, grassy, and citrus hops taking center stage. This is one of the first session IPAs I have tried that I could imagine myself wanting to drink several of. An impressive feat that this seems like an IPA and not a pale ale yet weighs in at only 3.8% ABV. Very nicely done. madelfonatree (317) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JAN 21, 2016

Easily the best session I’ve had. Drought. Amber, decent head. Floral sweet on the nose, tropical fruit and hops throughout. I was amazed that they crammed so much into 3.8%... Nothing seemed subdued. mkel07 (6545) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - NOV 3, 2016
Can from Dan Muphy’s 031116. Possibly the best mid-strength beer that I have ever had. It has all the colour, hoppiness and flavour of a big IPA without the alcohol. This will be my go to beer this summer for sure. Floral aroma with citrus and malt in the flavour that leads to a long lasting finish.
