Lager meets IPA in a winning combination.

Our Fathom India Pale Lager combines time-honored lagering techniques with the hop profiles of a West Coast IPA recipe. The cold-fermenting lager yeast provides a clean base that allows the citrus and pine aromas from the hops to really shine. The result is a gold medal beer with a refreshing, easy drinking character and just the right amount of depth.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, off white, mostly lasting. Body is dark yellow to light amber. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (resin), with notes of pineapple, cotton candy / confectioner’s sugar. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, creamy/oily texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Pretty solid, if short of inspiring. Aroma is mostly pine resin hops, but there’s some tropical fruit in there too so it’s not completely one-dimensional. Good balance in the mouth (touch too sweet though), and the mouthfeel is nice other than a slick/coating oiliness. Clean and drinkable.

Bomber. Nice, bright citrus aroma with light hops and a bit of pine. Pours amber-golden colored with a large, soapy white head with good retention and very little lacing. Starts with nice grapefruit and orange citrus flavors. Finishes like a lager with a smooth mouthfeel and floral pine hop flavors. Nice, refreshing beers.

UPDATED: APR 17, 2015 Poured from bottle, slightly hazy gold with big head. Aroma with notes of bread, citrus and some grass. Taste is peculiar. Starts bitter followed by a sweetish body with a sticky feel and finishes bitter sweet, slightly oily. A little too heavy but interesting.

Big bottle into tulip. As soon as I cracked the bottle a huge piney floral hops aroma came out. The pour created a good thick head. Dark golden beer. Aroma in the glass a strong piney hops with some grass, clover and honey notes. Very full aroma. Taste is an interesting balance of the larger and Indian Pale - some piney resin and green apple notes combines with biscuity malt. surprisingly it is not too bitter - perhaps a focus on hop aroma which is a nice change. Some hoppy bitterness starts to develop as the beer warms. The result is a decent balance of malt and hop. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
