UPDATED: FEB 15, 2015 On tap at Beachwood BBQ, Seal Beach, poured into shaker pint. Appearance is clear orange-amber with a finger and a half of white head that lasts and leaves patchy lacing. Aroma is grapefruit, mango, pineapple, pine, and biscuit malt. Taste is hoppy citrus bitterness with a fading pine note followed by a balancing malty sweetness. Medium bodied, slightly oily texture, average carbonation, just to the bitter side of balanced on the finish.

From Brewcraft. Drank w Matt after getting back from Shanghai. Pours a bright tan-brown with a medium foamy but creamy off-white head. Smells of caramel toasty malt, heavy resinous hop, pith, hay and cereal grains. Nothing new or unexpected in the nose, but it comes together in a very fine way. Taste is resin, light pepper, lime leaves. Body is slick, bitter, a little carbonation. Very nice and very big for a pale ale. Aroma is especially good.

Bottle from Brewcraft at home after coming home from Shanghai. Clear golden pour, dense white head. Aroma is juicy hops with some lemony pine resin. Taste is crisp and pleasantly resinously bitter. Quite light despite the big flavor. Some lasting slightly empty tasting bitterness. Light palate. Not bad at all - pretty full flavored for a pale ale and still has a bit of the Ballast Point Sculpin type flavor.

355ml can from Uncle Dan. A slightly hazy golden amber with a small and mostly fading white head. Aromas of tangerine, mango, peach, pineapple and citrus. More of the same to taste but also gently nutty and earthy leading to a pithy citrus and grapefruit bitterness of moderate to full length and intensity. Medium body, crisp and clean with fresh, medium carbonation.

Cans in Encinitas. The perfect BBQ beer. Light but full-bodied, easy drinking but super flavourful (citrus, light pine, a little melon), what an APA should strive to be.

Appearance: Bright golden. somewhat hazy. Firm finger of white foam. Nose: medium roasted malt with some definite earthy and citrus hops. Taste: medium roasted cereal malt in the front with a nice hop bite. Earthy, citrus, some herbal. Body: medium and some lively carbonation. Parting thoughts: quite a solid little pale ale from Ballast point. I should have expected nothing less.

From Beergium. In Teku glass. Playing Deep Dungeons of Doom. Amazing. Full of grapefruit/bitter orange hops, more like an IPA. Creamy, oily, aromatic. What a pity when the glass ends. I dont rate it with an overall 5 because Pseudosue exists

Nice floral earthy hop aroma with some citrus peel. Pours a pale golden color with sudsy white head. Light bodied but quite full flavored; hop forward, earthy-floral with citrus peel notes. Really an excellent easy drinking beer. Notes: On tap at MKT Bar, Houston (Feb 17)

on tap at Miramar brewery tasting room - pale amber in color with off-white head and 100% clarity. aromas are mostly hop-forward APA fruity but not overpowering. just the right amount for the style. close to perfect balance in the taste. malt sweetness, and hop-derived bitterness and flavors. texture is smooth and creamy and just oily. well rounded carbonation and medium body. the finish is dry with long lingering bitterness. - exemplary modern day APA.

A great pale ale. I can't believe it's only 35 IBU - it tastes like triple that. Citrus and hop forward flavors with a bitter finish. Really impressive and best as a first pale of the night. Had this after 12 mile run so possible it tastes like piss but everything tastes good right now. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
