COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Sculpin IPA is a great example of what got us into brewing in the first place. After years of experimenting, we knew hopping an ale at five separate stages would produce something special. The result ended up being this gold-medal winning IPA, whose inspired use of hops creates hints of apricot, peach, mango and lemon flavors, but still packs a bit of a sting, just like a Sculpin fish.

Aroma is pine, tropical fruit, pepper apparent on the back end. Appearance is golden amber, white head. Taste is immediate fresh pepper, then a bit of pine and tropical fruit, then the heat kicks in which is not off-putting as expected. Mouthfeel is crisp, hot, light to medium body, lingering heat. Overall, Im pleasantly surprised by this one. I expected a hot mess, but it compliments it well. I couldnt drink a whole one but 5oz is enough.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a clear light copper color with a medium sized thick white head. The aroma is hot pepper and hops, a fantastic smell. The taste is awesome, the heat is perfectly blended with the hops to create an insane flavor mix. Overall, a world class beer.

Bouteille, merci Dave - Ibrew2or3 for the trade. Fin orang, col fin beige.

Bottle at Lincoln Wine Bar. Generally fizzy, citrusy IPA with a smooth hot pepper burn. ITs ok, but I wouldnt order it--but then again Im not big on the hot pepper beer fad.

UPDATED: DEC 21, 2015 Glad to finally try this, though Im not sure the habanero peppers were a good addition. Pours a clear, golden-yellow, with middling head. Aroma is floral and hoppy, with almost no hint of the habanero. The flavor is very citrusy, with a huge, burning, pepper bite to it. Gets better as it warms. As pepper beers go, not that bad. Its fairly tasty, but I think grapefruit sculpin was a much better idea. I really liked this a lot more than it may sound.

355 ml bottle, from the Norwegian importer. ABV is 7.0%. Deep golden colour, slightly hazy. Moderate white head. Aroma of fruity American hops, hints of dust. Can hardly detect the habaneros. Hoppy flavour, some fruit and pine, immediately followed by a vehement habanero burn in the finish and aftertaste. Way too hot. Unbalanced, to a degree bordering on the ridiculous.

Pour from can into 4 oz taster. Aroma is all of the qualities of straight sculpin--pine, herbs, fruit, spruce with a little bit of malt and some definite pepper spice. Appearance is mild hazy orangish yellow with mild sparkle and nice foamy white head with mild lacing. Taste is a tale of two halves---first half dominant mild-to-moderate bitter with some sweet fruitiness but second half is all heat--not really a taste but a palate issue. Palate is light-to-medium body with thin, slightly creamy texture that then gets dominated by slightly burning heat. Overall, I appreciate the challenge of getting the habanero into the beer and it might be enjoyable to have with Mexican food, but even then it was a little too spicy for me. above average appearance and palate but wont knock your socks off. Very interesting aroma with some of that complexity translating over to the taste but a little over to the bitter side for me.

Pours a clear copper color. Almost no head at all. Aroma is a mixture of hops, malt and peppers. Just a hint of beer then immediately tastes like peppers. Hot lingers on the tongue, throat and lips. Heat effects the ears. Heat persists on the lips.
