Our Sculpin IPA is a great example of what got us into brewing in the first place. After years of experimenting, we knew hopping an ale at five separate stages would produce something special. The result ended up being this gold-medal winning IPA, whose inspired use of hops creates hints of apricot, peach, mango and lemon flavors, but still packs a bit of a sting, just like a Sculpin fish.

On tap at least the brewery. Clear yellow/orange pour with an off white head. Grapefruit hop aromas. Grapefruit hop notes upfront give way too some serious heat from the habaneros. Wowzers. Good body and mouthfeel.

Keg at Brewdog Edinburgh. Pours almost clear amber. Nose is sweet fruits, green pepper. Taste is green pepper, sweet malts and then the chili builds up and its all about that. Quite, or I could say really, strong chili in a beer, overpowering the excellent ipa. I dont see the point of this. There are nice balanced chili beers, this is not one of those.

Excellent beer, tho I like the Grapefruit version more. This does have the very intriguing aroma with the fruity hop malt caramel thing. Flavor loses almost all of the fruit and gets fairly dry with mostly malty hop and a little capsicum taste. Body is great and the heat from the Habenero is just right. Good drinking brew.

Mostly clear gold with an off-white head. Citrus hop aroma. Pepper flavor followed quickly by pepper heat. Nice heat, but very peppery. The Sculpin gets a bit lost underneath the pepper treatment.

330ml bottle courtesy of Costantin. Almost clear golden orange color with off white head. Malty and hoppy aroma, cheesy, spicy, light bread, citrusy fruity, grapefruit, grass. Sweet and bitter spicy taste. Medium oily body with soft carbonation. Hot long aftertaste.

Bottle. Poured a clear orange gold color with not much head. Aroma of grapefruit, citrus, caramel and a hint of pepper. Heat comes in strong for me inn the finish. Citrus and grapefruit up front. Too much heat for me

This beer takes the always impressive sculpin and adds huge peppery spice on the finish. Quite phenomenally done as it doesn’t detract from the original and never becomes too much. Great stuff

Bottle. Hazy light orange pour with a small head that fade to a nice ring. Aroma is pretty great. Nice mix of apricot, mandarin oranges and peppers. Tastes very spicy. Strong heat from the peppers nearly covers up everything else. Just hints of citrus and sweet malt. Medium body. Fairly smooth. Overall, it’s decent but it’s just too spicy.

12oz bottle from Craftshack. Pours a slightly hazy golden orange color with a small foamy white head. Aroma of sweet citrus, light on the habanero spice, lemon zest, and floral hops. Taste of grapefruit, lemon, pine, and a decent peppery habanero burn in the finish. Solid
