Our Sculpin IPA is a great example of what got us into brewing in the first place. After years of experimenting, we knew hopping an ale at five separate stages would produce something special. The result ended up being this gold-medal winning IPA, whose inspired use of hops creates hints of apricot, peach, mango and lemon flavors, but still packs a bit of a sting, just like a Sculpin fish.

Rating #1552 - 20.03.2015 - Birthday Brew Tour Stop #2 - On tap at Ballast Point. Pours a hazy golden orange with a medium white head. Aroma is first and foremost habanero. Flavour is extremely warm, with loads of habanero pepper. Notes of grapefruit, lime permeate, and there is a tremendous sweetness that complements the heat, for those that aren’t weak of heart or mind. I may take some heat here, but this is way better than grapefruit, and would rank it higher than Sculpin. BOOM!

Damn they have upped the Habanero on this batch. Lip tingling good on top of a very solid IPA. Great, Great stuff and hugely fun. Fuck yeah.

Draft keg and cask at the brewpub. Pours just like a sculpin... Light orange color, good head. Nose is punch in the face of spicey habanero peppers... Taste just like habanero peppers and sculpin. Two things that I love! Bitter mango piney grapefruit infused with a burning habanero. Tingles the lips just a little, burns the back of your throat and nose. Chapps your ass! Its spicey! Light and refreshing easy to drink. Overall: I went back to Ballast point just to get this for a second time. Very unique

On draught at Mellow Mushroom City North. Pours a clear copper with an off-off white head. Aroma is tropical and citrusy notes paired with sweet habanero. Taste is sweet with some bitterness, but the real flavors are from the sweet flesh of the peppers. Thinner bodied. Definitely spicy, but the flavors meld very well. Love it!

2 words: fuck yes. Tropical, habanero, medium to high spiciness, good throat tingle, bitterness adds to the heat. Fuck yes.

Tap at Savor. This was just overall wonderful stuff. The habanero spice and heat really integrate well with the west coast boisterous IPA style. Citric and spicy with a slightly spicy hot finish. Pour me another!

Draft - pours yellow/amber w/frothy white head. Nice grapefruit and tangerine notes in the nose. Grapefruits, tangerines and a nice balance of habanero peppers in the mouth. The pepper is quite nice and not too overpowering. It's there and you can't miss but it adds a wonderful affect to a great beer. I like it!!! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Holy crap -- talk about truth in advertising! I love habanero, but this is that times a billion. I’m giving it the rating in question because it lives up to the label, but this is a hard beer to drink!

Sculpin is such a fruit heavy IPA (for me tropical, grapefruit and peach) and habanero are such a fruity pepper (mango and other tropical stuff) these two pair well together. Also it’s a habanero. It could be much hotter but there is sense of danger as liquid capiscum coats your throat and mouth. Not a quencher this one. Hats off for the crazy guys that bottled and distributed this to Whole Foods.

Clear orange copper with a nice white head. The aroma is strong habanero peppers...enough to make your eyes tear up with a big wiff. The flavor is also loaded with habenaroes, but also has a nice fruity hop flavor and some sweet malt that goes well with the peppers. The heat is quite significant as you would expect and goes perfectly with the rest of the beer. Nice bitterness lingers with a lot of peppery heat. Good sipper.
