Brewed with madras curry, caynne pepper, cumin, toasted coconut, and kaffir lime leaf, Indra Kunindra is a 9% ABV stout brewed in collaboration with homebrewer Alex Tweet. It was brewed for Holiday Wine Cellar’s 46th Anniversary Homebrewers Competition. First batch at 9%, others at 7%.

22 oz bottle. Aroma: peppery, nutty, and malty, with hints of curry (obviously), which drowns all else out. Taste/Palate: the pepper burn was distracting, but there was some redeeming sweetness to the beer too.

Poured from a 22.Smells like a chili spice beer. Flavor is somewhat sweeter at first but gives a slight burn in the back of the throat going down. Definitely has the curry flavor with a slight coconut flavor. I wonder how this would pair with a Thai Curry dish Pretty much a one off beer for me, but not bad.

651 ml. bottle. Pours a medium, well retained, light beige head, over a clear, dark brown (SRM 35) body......nose is curry, hints of chocolate, light toffee/caramel, cumin, heavy floral notes, balance to the spices.....taste is slightly cocoanut sweet, curry, heavy cayenne heat, hints of roasted malts with chocolate, coffee notes, mild herbal hops, balance to the spices.....mouth feel, medium body, slightly sticky, mild alcohol, low carbonation. This is very different beer. It is spice dominated, to the extent that the underlying malts and hops are almost absent. It is too over the top. My own preference with additives is that they be subtle not utterly overwhelming. The score reflects the quality of the brewer, not my enjoyment of the confection. BJCP 7/3/10/4/5

Wow. Interesting spiced stout. The cayenne I noticed immediately as it was immediately felt on my lips before I even tasted it, got the curry also, the other flavors not so sure except the coconut in the aftertaste which I did not care for. An interesting beer and definitely a sipper. Glad I tried it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22 oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a medium frothy tan head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is huge Indian spice, perfumey curry and lime and coconut. Very interesting.

The flavor is interesting as well - lots of curry powder, sweet lime and a little coconut and then a lot of heat from the spice (cayenne). The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a very unique and interesting beer. It actually works for me.

Bomber. Aroma is tikka masala with notes of curry, cumin, cayenne and some coconut. Pours black with a thin light brown head and some lacing. Starts with light roasted flavor and the tikka masala with the curry, cumin and coconut. Finishes smooth but brings the cayenne heat that builds with every sip. Very unique and good, I'm glad that I split the bottle between 3 people because a whole bottle solo would be difficult.

22oz in Seattle. Wow, strange. Huge spicy cumin aroma. Strong and strange. Creamy sweet body, better as a beer than aroma. Quite spicy, raw powdery spices. Very strange, but quirky interesting. Glad I tried it but not going to be seeking this out again.

22oz bottle. black pour with a head that diminishes to nothing in a few seconds. enticing aroma of red curry, chili, vanilla(coconut?). a medium bodied beer wit a spicy heat in the finish. lots of cumin notes and curry, lesser notes of tart lime and sweet coconut. really fun to drink. i can’t say i’ve had anything remotely like this before...it’s not just your typical hot pepper stout. layers of spices. awesome...just not sure i want to drink 2 pints of this in a row.

Wild. Thanks to Matt for the taste. Like someone poured a porter into a plate of madras curry. A bit sweet, definitely a ton of spices. Mild heat. Strange. Tasty? Mostly strange.
