Dry flavor with a light bodied maltiness and a rye bite
Light toasted aroma. Brown in color with an off-white head. GarrettB (1639) - San Diego, California, USA - DEC 27, 2014
June 1st, 2013 - My notes here are curt, so my review will be too. But the attached photograph tells an interesting beer, with a deep, mahogany brown body, translucent except on top, where a mottled, foamy, frothy head looks like it’s roiling itself almost out of the glass. The aroma is mostly hoppy and twangy, with grapefruit and fresh rye bread, and the flavor is dominated by the rye again, light and grainy, like a fresh and bouncing loaf with its heavier, molasses sweet flavor. chinchill (5242) - South Carolina, USA - JUL 23, 2014
On tap at the Ballast Point Tasting Room and Kitchen.
Clear, dark red-brown with a good tan head. Decent lacing
Feel: near medium body; Soft, medium carbonation.
Smell: Nice mix of hops that is about equally fruity and herbal.
Taste: this is a rathe hoppy brown ale, although some of the spicines no doubt comes from the "rye and coriander".
O: a refined spiced brown. Palme (4817) - Bergen, NORWAY - JUL 17, 2014
On tap @ Rattle N Hum. This is a kinda dark almost murky brown one with a small but lacing kinda brownish top. Not to extreme on the nose initually. I get some some dark sweetness, a little chocolate and a fair amount of bitter hops Quite smooth in the mouth and it’s really easy to drink. Has a soft oily smooth feeling in the mouth and it’s gentle and small pricing on the carbonation. Brown chocolate paper, some rye break and it ends a little spicy. Quite delicious. 14.06.2013 Beerenberger (1605) - Fischer, Texas, USA - MAR 7, 2014
On tap @ the Domain. The nose is bready with suggestions of chocolate. Pours a cloudy brown with ruby highlights and a mostly diminishing off- white head. The taste is follows the nose - touches of rye spice, toasted malt, and chocolate notes. Medium body and medium carbonation. Overall, a nice example of a brown ale.

Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark brown with a beige head and orange glints. Aroma is uncertain. Near med body. Flavor is mostly roast malt with rye spice. Finishes decently bitter. Certainly a very good brown. Smurf2055 (1400) - Seattle, Washington, USA - OCT 11, 2013
Pours dark brown, finger off white head.
Smell sweet chocolate, hazelnut, rye and some vanilla.
Taste smooth brown ale with a bit of coffee, coco, and nutty.
Very smooth and creamy, medium body.
Great beer. after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - OCT 8, 2013
Draft at ncbc. Pours a murky dark brown with a loose tan head. Mild bready rye nose. Creamy medium body with soft carb. Nice toasty dark brown bread mid palate. Bread crusts on the finish. Mora2000 (6158) - McKinney, Texas, USA - SEP 29, 2013
On tap at Untapped Dallas. Brown with a tan head. The aroma has some toffee and chocolate notes as well as some rye. The flavor is more of the same. The spicy rye notes in the flavor complement the chocolate, toffee and caramel. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Caytinator (1005) - Waco, Texas, USA - SEP 14, 2013
Pint on tap. Cloudy bastard, brown delta, no lacing, small head fades off to a collar, wow there’s some unexplained sediment in it, taster’s crystals. Rye bread taste, definitely bitter middle and aftertaste, but rounded taste overall with just a tad bit if fizzines, which isn’t unexpected in the rye.
