San Diego IPA
The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

From a 12-oz bottle. Pours a hazy golden. Citrusy malt aroma. Grapefruit and faint flora aroma. Three-inch head dissipates to a quarter-inch white head. Citrusy flavors, with pine and herbs. Hint of grapefruit at finish. Clean and crisp mouthfeel. Drinks like a pale ale with a burst of herbal, pine and citrus flavors. Very nice IPA.

Mango and caramel on the nose in balanced succession. Enchanting appearance: very lively carbo bubbles; two-finger creamy ivory head; sparkling clear light gold. Taste: tart citrus, sweet mango, and finishes with bitter pine and saltiness. Palate: thin to oily. refreshing carbonation feel. lingering bitter finish.

Here we have a beer that really has a lot of hops in himself. Tropical fruit aroma and flavor. However, the taste can be a little too dry unfortunately. Long flavor that remains forever. Great beer to drink. It had every perfect if it had not been so dry. Follow me @ Kung av l @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

Mildly hazy orange with some light carbonation and a filmy head that has good retention. Aroma has a very strong apricot, mango and grapefruit scent along with some pale malts. Flavor is very citrus forward with grapefruit, apricot, piney hops, resin, mango and peaches with some slight caramel maltiness. Body is heavy along with the carbonation. I think I may have found my new favorite IPA that isnt local!

Dark yellow-orange pour with thin white head. Aroma is strong hops and citrus. Flavor is extreme hops, heavy citrus, light malt. Finish is dry & hoppy, fairly soft mouthfeel. Not as big of a fan of this IPA as others, mostly due to the dry-hop feel to it.
