Alextricity (509) - Michigan, USA - OCT 5, 2013
Canned 6/26/13 and picked up at The Beer Temple in Chicago. Oh, how I’m looking forward to this...
Appearance: Pours with a massive four finger soapy head that stays for quite awhile. Sculpin has a pretty clear light amber color. The lacing is fantastic. Excellent looking IPA.
Smell: Grass and peaches are the two things that I get most. There is also a slight citrus note in there as well. Really does smell nice.
Taste: Quite a lot like the aroma, really. Kind of tastes like a ripe peach at first, and the medium feel of Sculpin gives that impression even more. There’s then a bitterness on the middle of the tongue, with a sticky, dry, piney and bitter finish. The aftertaste is just lingering pine and peach bitterness that I love. Sculpin’s an excellent name for this IPA, especially as it warms up. After being out for about ten minutes, the bitterness intensifies, and the alcohol becomes traceable.
Canned and put onto my tastebuds here in Michigan just 12 days later. A six-pack ran me $14 or $15, which is definitely kind of steep (considering I can get a sixer of Two Hearted for $10), but this has an excellent bitter pine and peach flavor that I thoroughly enjoy. If this were available in Michigan, I’d definitely pick it up from time-to-time... even with the slightly higher price point.
Tstamba (775) - Maryland, USA - OCT 4, 2013
From a bottle, pours light amber with white head quickly fading to ample lacing. Very fragrant, lots of floral and citrus. Nice hop bite balanced with notes of honey. An outstanding IPA...

Really nice aroma, heavy in both grape, passion fruit and mango
Nice clear straw colour and great head.
The taste is nice, you can notice that some maltiness is there but it is only in the background and just enough to carry the hops. Just as the maltiness in an IPA should be. The bitterness is nice and pretty round and smooth.
The body is light to medium, the carbination average and the finish is pretty long with the nice bitterness from the taste. The palate is okey but I prefer my IPAs lighter and more carbonated.
It is a relly nice IPA. It would be interesting to try this in USA to get it really fresh, ’cause even if it is good it still has nothing on some locally produced IPAs we get fresh here in sweden
This is my second tasting of this beer. First time was in Las Vegas at the Freakin Frog. This time was in Sweden from Systembolaget (Oct 4. 2013). Aroma is citrus and hops. Quite light and fresh. Color is light amber and a 2-3 cm fading head. Taste is good. Lots of mango, citrus, tropical fruits. Very nice. Quite light on the malty side. Some sweetness and a rather strong bitter finish. Just a little to bitter to find the perfect balance in my opinion. This is a very good beer, but there are better.

Bottle from Systembolaget, best before June 2014 . Clear dark golden with a dense white head, leaving a nice lacing on the side of the glass. Aroma has pine, resin, grapefruit light red berries. Taste is bitter with a light sweet malty and red berries note. Medium dry bitter piney finish. Medium body and a light sticky carbonation. VictorStr (1740) - Helsingborg, SWEDEN - OCT 4, 2013
Om ölen faller på något är det aromen. Kanske lite på färg och ytterst lite spretig också, men annars sjukt bra. Vilken smak, ett bra djup och en fyllighet som är niiiiice. I like ! dnoaksson (827) - , SWEDEN - OCT 4, 2013
Pours a nice bright gold with a small white head. Really looks good.
Smells of a west coast style IPA. Citrus/Grapefruit/Pine all hit your nose with a gusto. A little grassy too.
Piney hop burst up front. Then the malts become slightly detectable while finishing with a lingering dry bitterness.
Mouthfeel is fairly light with good carbonation levels.
Sculpin has a reputation as one of the best West Coast IPA’s and doesn’t disappoint. The only knock is I would’ve liked a little bit more grapefruitiness to balance out the piney resin, but a small nitpick at that as this beer is still good, just not elite.

Alla spina. Una delle migliori IPA assaggiate negli States, aroma di frutta tropicale, freschissima e intensa. Al palato ancora frutta fresca, esotica, pompelmo, kiwi e finale amaro ma non eccessivo.
