UPDATED: SEP 18, 2013 Poured from a 12oz bottle to a tulip. Truly from the time you open the bottle Sculpin reveals itself as something special. The aroma bursts forth from the tulip. Citrus and stone fruit come to the fore. The earthy hops and even a tinge of cat pee funk linger underneath. Intriguing, this is absolutely one of the best smelling IPAS out there. The appearance is beautiful in it’s simplicity and clarity. Pours like a medium colored lager with a minimumal white head. The carbonation is light. The taste is an explosion of strong grapefruit and lemony citrus hops. The front of the tongue is awash in juicy hop flavor and bitterness. A mild rock candy like sweetness hits in mid swallow before the bitterness returns on the finish. Yowza! This brew really is a marvel! It is well deserved of the accolades heaped upon it. One nosing, one sip and one swallow and you’ll know you’re in for a game changer. I’m editing this review to reflect that in my area (Twin Cities) I can find this right at $9.99 a six pack. I’ve seen several post that call Sculpin pricey but here at least it’s the same as other staples in my rotation such as Bell’s Two Hearted, or Odells and cheaper per ounce than Stone IPA or Surly Furious. poisoneddwarf (2667) - Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho, USA - SEP 6, 2013
Bomber. Aroma is piney, grapefruity, catty, floral. Pours hazy cantaloupe with a thick off-white head with great retention; leaves constellation-like patterns of lace. Taste is beautifully citrusy and peachy, starting sweet before finishing with a lingering bitterness. Carbonation is fine, medium to full body. Excellent. Much better than Big Eye! UPDATED: JUN 7, 2017 Deep gold color, crystal clear, forever lasting white head, tight lace. Expansive and beautiful floral nose. Full body, silky texture, packed with a rainbow of flavors, very complex and elegant, well carbonated but moderately hot mouthfeel, lingering on the palate with a tasty finish. Bitter predominately but moderately, crisp but not too dry. Hoppy, herby, citrus pith and rind, resiny, malty in the background. Delicious, extroverted but well balanced, worth looking for. jcnielsen (3416) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - SEP 5, 2013
Bottle picked up in Charlotte. Pours an orange color with a white head. Piney, citrus, resiny, hoppy aromas. Piney, grassy, hoppy, earthy bitterness, and citrus flavors. Very nice hoppy IPA Trev (2023) - Lakeville, Minnesota, USA - SEP 5, 2013

aroma is slightly subdued, hardly any malt presence. Grapefruit citrus and herbal hop.
Flavour is apricot fruitiness, very forward grapefruit bitterness. maltiness is surprisingly low yet the beer doesn’t come across as overly unbalanced.
Tastes citrus & grapefruit. Aroma smells very hoppy and citrusy! Amazing IPA! One of the best I've had

Strong citrus, grapefruit aroma. No malt on the nose. The appearance is slightly hazy with a light gold color. The flavor is super hoppy with a lingering bitterness on the finish. The malt is very light on flavor. The mouthfeel is medium -light and the beer coats the mouth on the finish. The carbonation is medium. Overall it's really hoppy for an IPA, tastes like a double IPA. I enjoyed drinking it and will order it again.

Pours a golden amber color with a medium head the leaves decent lacing. Aromas of hops and citrus with more hops and a bit of pine. Flavors of hops grab you with citrus notes, a botter but pleasant aftertaste. Definitely a top selection for IPAs. mtdewa1 (441) - rome, New York, USA - SEP 3, 2013
