San Diego IPA
The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

One of the best beer around in the IPA category. You will feel the sting of the Sculpin on the first shot. Strong hops flavor, go best with seafood and sushi. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle sample at the tasting. Pours hazy golden-amber with a white head. Aroma - citrus, pineapple and mango. Taste - starts sweet with tropical fruits and malty tones, moderate hoppy bitterness, dry finish, piney aftertaste. Medium body, pleasant mouthfeel, soft carbonation, refreshing.

Slightly cloudy orange-amber colored pour. Small white head that persists, and leaves ample lacing behind. Orange aroma. Some grapefruit and caramel notes. Taste is a bready orange. Nice. Very good beer.

UPDATED: APR 23, 2017 A clean, light, tasty IPA. The body is bright tangerine with an average head and light carbonation. Lots of sweet citrus in the aroma; lemon and some melon, too. The flavor is crisp and tart. Orange and creamy, butterscotch malt. Poured from the bottle right out of the fridge, this thing hit the spot.
