San Diego IPA
The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

Pours a hazy golden orange with a white head and nice aroma of citrus and hops. Taste is of hops, citrus, and pine, while subtle, with a slight bitter, smooth finish. Very nice IPA, drinkable and great tasting.

Ah, finally, an IPA that is really good. Seems a lot of the "hey lets make a brewery" brewers are producing things that are labelled IPA, but really taste like old stale hops! Don’t get me wrong, you have a few out there that are making some really great IPAs and this is one of them. Clean, fresh, bitterly hoppy, foamy, citrusy......hits all the marks! Really nice IPA!!! I’m drinking one now!!!!!

Bottle. 25.4 oz. Pours orange-gold with a thick, frothy white head. Aroma of hop resin, orange, pineapple, honey, Granny Smith apple, vanilla, caramel, and sweet malts. Fuller bodied; perfectly balanced with a juicy, tart, smooth mouthfeel. Slow-burning, crisp, carbonated finish. Outstandingly executed, outrageously delicious, incredibly satisfying Imperial IPA. Great west coast IPA

Auburn pour with a thin head. Aggressive aroma, very fruity, with notes of orange, pineapple, peach, and spicy hops. Light to medium bodied, thin palate, gentle malt, resinous hop profile, the finish is very long and dry, coats the mouth with a sticky pine hop shot. Outstanding.

Bottle. Pours bright orange apricot color with a white soapy head that fades and leaves some spotty lacing. Aroma has a nice blend of pineapple and malt and some spruce. Taste is bitter grapefruit and citrus flavors with the malt really kicking in the finish. Palate has good carbonation and leaves a chalky dry finish. Very enjoyable! Would love to try again fresh!
