4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: SEP 18, 2013 Poured from a 12oz bottle to a tulip. Truly from the time you open the bottle Sculpin reveals itself as something special. The aroma bursts forth from the tulip. Citrus and stone fruit come to the fore. The earthy hops and even a tinge of cat pee funk linger underneath. Intriguing, this is absolutely one of the best smelling IPAS out there. The appearance is beautiful in it’s simplicity and clarity. Pours like a medium colored lager with a minimumal white head. The carbonation is light. The taste is an explosion of strong grapefruit and lemony citrus hops. The front of the tongue is awash in juicy hop flavor and bitterness. A mild rock candy like sweetness hits in mid swallow before the bitterness returns on the finish. Yowza! This brew really is a marvel! It is well deserved of the accolades heaped upon it. One nosing, one sip and one swallow and you’ll know you’re in for a game changer. I’m editing this review to reflect that in my area (Twin Cities) I can find this right at $9.99 a six pack. I’ve seen several post that call Sculpin pricey but here at least it’s the same as other staples in my rotation such as Bell’s Two Hearted, or Odells and cheaper per ounce than Stone IPA or Surly Furious.

Apperance orange, slightly hazy. Lots of hops in the aroma, tropical fruit. Fantastic balance between fruitiness, sweetnes and bitterness. This is one of the classical west coast ipa’s and still one of the very best. Brettsky06 (444) - Manitoba, CANADA - JUL 11, 2017
Bright orange pour. Tropical fruit aromas, mostly mango. Taste is great the hops are crisp and juicy but yet bitter. Really good IPA jspencer78 (40) - Rochester, Minnesota, USA - JUL 4, 2017
I’m not always a fan of IPAs particularly as American brewers have taken to trying to make them as bitter as possible but this is very tasty. Great summer ale with fruit aroma and crisp citrusy taste with a great hoppy fade. BreweryMonger30 (4) - - JUN 24, 2017 does not count
This pale ale has fresh pine and fruity with earty aroma and bitter aftertaste.

330ml bottle. Pours a semi dark gold with white head. Passion fruit on the nose with subtle sweetness. Medium body with a strong initial bitterness which fades into a sweet malt palate. tricksta_p (4650) - Steenwijk, NETHERLANDS - JUN 12, 2017
Bottle from a gas station near Reno, Nevada. Aroma is juicy hops, intense tropical fruits, grapefruit, soft biscuity malt, citrus, orange, some pine resin. Flavour is light to moderate sweet with a firm bitter finish. Body is medium. Amazingly balanced hoppy fruits basket, one of the finest if not the finest well-rounded example of the style I’ve enjoyed.
