San Diego IPA
The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

Bottle. Nose is bright summery; peach, mango, lychee, sweet floral note. Taste is citrus, grapefruit, tropical fruit, spruce, onion, very light resin the bitterness comes from the emerging grapefruit rind. A little to fizzy for me. Its a class leading American IPA.

650 mL bottle. Clear gold pour, tall white head, good lacing. Big citrus aroma, mild cereal malt notes. Taste is very well balanced, lots of citrus, mainly orange and a long lasting bitter finish. Great IPA.

Bottle sampled at the brewery for RBSG 08. Pours a clear gold, with a light white head. Citrus hops aroma, both sweet and bitter, with nice fruit notes. Taste is clean, bitter, and hoppy. Lingering clean bitterness. Very refreshing and tasty IPA.

bottle courtesy of the beer sommelier. just what the doctor ordered for a 100+ day like today! light sweet, fruity nose, golder crytyl on the pour. the flovor is light and refreshing with a lil sweet in the front, a lil tart in the back. the palate is incredibly smooth, great session beer. a great ipa that proves you dont have to make it a double to make it good.

Cask at Bella Vista Grand Opening: pours a golden amber with a thin white head, aroma is full of citrus and hops (amazing aroma), taste is hoppy with some citrus, very easy to drink. This is a very nice IPA, I had assumed it was a DIPA,
