San Diego IPA
The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

Clear, orange colour with big, stable head. Nice lacing too. After opening the bottle, it feels big punch of citrus (grapefruit!), exotic fruits (mango, maybe even passion fruit), some floral note and malty base on background. Taste is light to medium sweet, medium to heavy bitter, light dry. Finish is very long, biiter, but not harsh or tart. Soft carbonation. Medium to full body. Fantastic, very drinkable, no doubt one of the best IPA Ive ever tried.

Wow, this is a gem from the first mouthful. Sl cloudy golden and this head but thats about as bad as it gets. Rich honey malts with a raspy citrus hop bite. Mouthfeel is all grapefruit, best pink grapefruit. Lovely balance of malt and sweet and bitter citrus and that dry mouthfeel with afterburps for a long time to come. The best beer Ive had for a long time - well done

Flaska frn SB. Klar orange med fingertjockt vitt skum. Tydlig doft av citrus och exotisk frukt. Ganska tunn kropp, ngot torr.

Appearance was amber gold with diminishing whitish creamy 1 finger head, spotty lacing.Aromas where sweet honey malt with grapefriut, lemons, oranges and spices. Taste was sweet figs, honey sweet malty backbone with melony citrus lemony hops comes through in the back. Palate was smooth creamy carbonation with beautiful medium balance of sweetness and hops. Wonderful IPA...

Thank you Fred for this bottle that we drink together at le Petit-Lancy. It is a delicious IPA, well balanced, yellow and orange body, regular carbonation, thin and white foam. The taste is pleasant with hop, malt, bitterness and grapefruit, staying a long time in the mouth.

12 bottle supplied by SHERM1016....thanks! Pours a rich dark yellow; moderate head. No lacing. Who cares....this is one very great beer. Bitter / hoppy (juniper / pine) nose and dry / hoppy initial taste. Bitter taste lingers....but what an excellent bitter it is! Very tasty!!

Brewed in the USA !!! On tap at the Brass Rail. Pours straw in color with a super foamy white head that will dissipate in time. Aroma of hops, malts, citrus and fruits. The taste has fruit flavors like oranges, mango, grapefruit and peaches with some hops and citrus notes. The mouthfeel is thin to medium in body with a nice crisp dry hoppy bite at the finish. Wow, this IPA was really good stuff !!! I could drink this all night long. :)

12 fl oz bottle. Pours clear and the colour of honey, with an off-white head. On the nose resinous notes, fresh pineapple, passion fruit, grapefruit, faint lime peel, and a very faint whiff of lemon jelly beans as it warms up. Taste wise, fruit at the top of the profile. Passion fruit, grapefruit, peach, and light resinous notes that head into mineral heavy bitterness, and lots of bitter citrus pith in the finish.
