San Diego IPA
The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

Lots of grapefruit in this one. Bitter citrus hops, caramel, orange, tart fruit and pine with undertones of bread. Well balanced and a dry finish. Lives up to its reputation as a world class IPA

Bottle from SB 150904. Clear golden amber withe creamy lasting and lacing white head. Powerful citrus and tropical fruit in the nose, not so much resins. Very nice and pleasant bitterness with long aftertaste. Truly nice, but there is a bit to much alcohol breaking through that decreases the taste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nice ipa, kinda cheapened by the massive buyout. That doesn’t take away from the fact that this is a great beer. Juicy and delicious. Will get again.

pours a semi murky gold with a decent bubbly off white head. Aroma is floral and fruity. Some orange citrus, also some mango or other tropical fruit. Taste is complex. Some orange and other fruits. Some moderate hop bitter kicks in, but there’s some faint sweetness there too. Long full finish with pleasant nasal linger. Solid.

On draft at lost lake. delicious IPA. Really dig this. Perfect amount of kick to it, but also smooth. Hoppy but it's a light hoppiness that's sparkly.

Aromatics are lovely and very "light" in hops lots of citrus and bright fruits. Just a lovely smelling beer. Those aromatics are replicated in a super balanced taste lots of grapefruit and mild bitterness.
