San Diego IPA
The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

22 oz bottle. Aroma: citrusy and resinous. Taste/Palate: starts creamy and sweet, and finishes crisp and bitter. Perfect malt/hop balance. Perfect beer.

The smell was superb, one of the finest I’ve felt. Very fruity (9/10). The appearance is a flat yellow. Nothing special (3/5). The taste is very light, maybe too light for me (7/10). Palate leaves a hoppy & fruity ending (4/5). Overally an excellent beer, but for being honest, I expected more. I’ve tried better from Ballast Point (16/20)

Can to ipa glass. Really nice golden pour with a decent white head. Lots of citrus and pine in the aroma and taste. Taste is backed by a nice malt profile. A bit of a bitter backend. Really solid ipa. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma is pineapple peach hops. Looks refreshing with a nice tight head. This beer is amazing! Great hop flavor though not super bitter. I will drink this again for sure.

Bomber. Pours a clear gold color with a long lasting white head. Aroma is citrus hops and pine. Taste is fairly bitter and resinous. Sweet caramel malt, grapefruit, and pine. Medium bodied with a dry, lingering, bitter finish.

On tap at Capone's in Norristown, PA. Actually tried this a few months after first trying the Habanero Sculpin, which was a beer I loved. It was nice to try this without the spice. Definitely a top tier IPA.

UPDATED: SEP 5, 2013 Had at The Union, Encinitas CA. Delicious. Perfectly balanced IPA. Pours yellow orange, clear. minimal head. Intense hops on the first sip then mellows out. A unique floral hop notes linger on the palate, slightly spicy and like nothing i have ever tasted. A great high powered session IPA. Highly addictive and perfection at its best. Bravo! 6-Pack in NJ, poured same clear yellow orange, minimal head. Same great freshness and flavors. It travels well, not cheap $14.99 for 6 12oz bottles. Well worth it. A flawless IPA

10/26/12. Bought 2 $3.39 bottles from CBO and was my first beer at wasabi. Rated as one of the highest ipa's out there and I agree. Hazy gold with a very long-lasting full head. Very strong citrusy aroma and the taste follows the nose. Heading to My Favorites! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
