San Diego IPA
The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

With Larry. Pours paler than typical IPA...almost a cross between between a typical IPA and a pilsener. Great nose -floral, pine, citrus. Taste has citrus and caramel malts up front - but a muted hop finish. Great except the finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can, 355ml. A clear amber beer with minimal head. Intense hoppy aromas with some citrics, especially grapefruit. Taste is bitter with some carbonation and astringency. Medium bodied with a strong hoppy aftertaste. Bitter finish.

Can, 355ml. Clear amber with a frothy offwhite head. Aromas of grapefruit, resin. Medium bodied, fizzy carbonation. Medium sweet, lightly bitter. Hoppy flavors into a sweet, but mildish finish.

Valitettavan laimeanlainen.

One of the best IPA’s I’ve tasted. Nice hop bite but not too overwhelming. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pression, Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar, Cupertino CA.

UPDATED: FEB 11, 2018 1/26/31 Had while watching Batman Begins with Abby. Finished trauma rotation and got her MacBook fixed today. Hazy copper with a 2 finger white head. Smell is radiantly bright. Tons of citrus and tropical fruit. Taste follows. All fruity hops. Not bitter or piney. Noticeable mango and lemon. Wow! Palate is pretty substantial. Medium-thick. Long hoppy finish with lingering bitterness. Overall, wow. This is amazing. Possibly my favorite straight IPA. Packed with fruity hops, flavorful and delicious! If it wasn’t pricey, I’d get it all the time!

Clear golden color with big foamy white head. Aroma of tropical fruits. Taste is very similar with the aroma : tropical fruits, pine and hops. Not so bitter but just the right amount. Overall very good tropical IPA

Poors clear, slightly oily ocre with decent head. Aroma: very fruity hops, good depth. Taste again lots of fruity hops, herbal, decent bitter, grainy, herbal aftertaste. Very tasty, including the bitterness. Interesting: rich tasting for an IPA.

Spicy bitterness to it, something missing from many IPAs. Very good flavor, very strong citrus element.
