San Diego IPA
The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

Love this beer. It is a perfect fresh tasting citrus ipa. The body is nice and lite with just enough bitterness. Then it smacks you with great hops aroma and flavor. Love love love

L: -pours a clear amber with a big foamy off white head -great head retension -high carbonation visible S: -huge grapefruit, orange, pine resin, peaches and lemon T: -grapefruit,orange zest,resin-y,onions with a slight nutty finish F: -medium carbonation,light-medium body O: I expected more fruitiness and the onion note was off-putting. Still a pretty good IPA

[2015-05-20, Leskinen] Kullankeltainen, kirkas. Tiheä vaahto, joka häipyy hitaasti. Sitruksinen humalointi, reilusti katkeroa. Maku on yrttisen katkera ja sitruksinen.

Clear brassy pour. Massive rocky white head with tons of chunky lacing. Apricot and resin in the nose with just a wisp of pale malt. Medium mouthfeel. Just enough carbonation to carry the nose, but not so much it gets fizzy. Peach, apricot, honeydew rind, and whole lemon in the middle, followed by a touch of honey, bready malt, and lingering pine. Delicious.
