On nitro @ Capones. Aroma of vanilla creme, slight caramel, and cherry cordial. Pours black with a foamy film. Taste is creamy and delicious. Vanilla, cherry, chocolate and roast coffee. Very smooth. jmagnus87 (2912) - Rockford, Illinois, USA - SEP 26, 2013
Draft. From notes. Loads of bourbony oak with chocolate and vanilla. I could easily drink this every day. mspindler (489) - Alta Loma, California, USA - MAR 14, 2009
5 oz. taster at the brewery. Pours black with a brown tint and no head. Aroma is heavy with whiskey, oaky vanilla, and some typical stout-like coffee/chocolate in the background. Flavor is boozy with alot of whiskey. It cuts the sweetness of the beer nicely. The barrel aging stands out in this beer more than any I’ve had, so if you’re in to that kind of thing (which I am) then you’ll love this. feels a little lighter bodied and less carbonated than the regular version. On tap @ Ballast Point Old Grove...Pours dark black with a light brown head.. Aroma is vanilla and bourbon.. Taste is vanilla, dark chocolate and some coconut.. Better than the non barrel aged version. JoeTheYounger (1183) - Lake Arrowhead, California, USA - JUN 10, 2009
Had on tap with DuffmanSW and mspindler for my birthday extravaganza. Very good beer. Hints of coconut and vanilla, very smooth and mild bourbon taste. Not too over powering like most barrel aged stuff.

Growler from smokepot23...thanks my man! Nice brew!! Black pour, brown head. Roasted malt hits upfront on the nose and is followed by a nice bourbon and chocolate mixture. Flavor has a nice edge of bourbon, but its somewhat toned down. Good dose of chocolate and roasted malt. Fine brew. Slipstream (2625) - USA - DEC 26, 2012
On tap at Capone’s. I continue to be a big fan of Ballast Point’s big beers. This was rich and flavorful, with the bourbon helping the sea monster to be its very best. Superb! kathouse (1888) - LAS VEGAS, Nevada, USA - JAN 19, 2013
black with a thick brown foam. Lots of cocoa and coffee on the nose along with some wood and vanilla notes. Nice body to support the bourbon flavors. Coffee and roast finish this one off. Damico (3147) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 23, 2012
Pours unclear black coffee in color with a big creamy beige head. The aroma brings sweet and even more spicy boubron notes, almost sweet resiny malts even. The flavor brings sweet vanilla boubron, really smooth to the point where alcohol only presented itself as spicu, quite nice. The body is decently creamy and goes down smooth. dmac (6257) - Toms River, New Jersey, USA - NOV 24, 2012
Nitro pour at Capone’s Black Friday event. Poured a great looking pitch black silky body underneath a smooth velvety light beige head. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, roastiness, slight chocolate, and a touch of heavily roasted coconut. The body is so smooth and sliky with minimal carbonation and a touch of heat on the end. Flavor is roasty overall with an iniital burst of bourbon, vanilla, slight dark chocolate, burnt toast and a lingering aftertaste that is just phenomenal. Another great beer and the nitro pour really adds to this one.
