Our Thai Chili Wahoo is a favorite in our tasting rooms for its complex balance of heat and spice. Orange and coriander have long been a part of our trademark Wahoo White. In this edition, we added a dose of Thai chilis, even more heat from ginger, and a counterpunch of lime. The flavors in this beer need to be experienced first-hand, so grab one and try it for yourself.

On tap at the Old Grove location. Light pale yellow with decent haze. Nose is yeast and lime and Ginger. Up front taste is high tart sweet. Lotsa lime and a good dose of Ginger. Clean and bright. High fresh chili pepper bite comes in late and stays to party after the beer is long gone. Not overpowering or off-putting, but obvious. Nice beer.

On tap @ Rattle N Hum. This is a blurry yellow golden one with a small white head on the top. Mild wheaty nose, there’s tones of something zesty and grapey. Also, it’s quite sweet. Like it. Tastes pretty hot! Oh, I totally forgot what the wahoo was for a second here. Really burning in the back of the tongue. It has a thin oily texture and a soft carbonation level. Almost a little mineralish and dry in the taste. Dusty? Peppery and really throat prickling this. A fun experience, but I doubt I’d be as exciting about this halfway down a full bottle. 11.06.2015

Clear pale gold pour with a thin, quickly fading white head. Aroma is earthy chili, lime, ginger and herbal notes. Tastes exactly as it smells. Light body, light, blanketing carbonation, a good amount of heat. Decent.

Bottle from unknown place. Pours golden with a thin white head. Leaves trace lacing in the glass. Lots of chili on the nose but also a hint of orange peel and coriander. The taste is all chili. It’s pretty hot from the first sip and the heat builds the more you drink it. Unfortunately the chilis overpower the wit base.

Fizzy, lightly hazed, light golden liquid. Fizzy as in a soda like disappearing white head. Scents of green peppers and hints of lime. Think salsa! If you take enough time (I’m not sure I want to drink this) one does catch a hint of ginger. I’m not one that typically thinks scent of veg is ok in a beer, and this is still not one of those times. Sweet start, with a light fruit flavor. Middle is full of spice and heat. Spices of pepper, ginger, cinnamon and cloves. Actually I kind of like the flavors and think this would go very well with a Thai coconut chicken soup. Still not a fan of the scent or appearance. But kind of digging the flavors. Different for sure.

Definite chili pepper aroma. NO head, and zero lacing. Looks like urine in a cup. I had high hopes for this beer, as it sounded like a really cool idea. However, it basically tasted like spicy water.

Minnesota Trip Beer #78. Keg at the Happy Gnome, 5/9/16. Hazy yellow, thin creamy white head, decent retention. Aroma of floral notes, chili, wheat, coriander, lime. The taste is spicy chili, wheat, ginger. Medium bodied, lingering spice.

Draught at Lucky Pie and Pizza Taphouse. No head. Hazy green body. Powerful oranges spicy aroma dominated by coriander. Chili lemon aroma. High carbonation. Long chili finish.

Draught at Berggrens Öltapp, Motala. Clear pale yellow/golden beer with a nice offwhite head. Spicy ginger aroma, chili, hay. Too spicy for me, heavy chili and ginger in the flavor.

pale gold color; citrusy aroma with light ginger notes; a nice smooth wit beer with nice citrus notes and light ginger notes; chili notes come in at the finish- just slightly warm chili notes in the aftertaste; very well done

Light aroma, light (yellow) and clear color, light body, light beer. But spice. Oh yes, spice. And ginger. And chili pepper. Love chilis and ginger. A ton of fruit as well; picking up lemon, lime, orange and banana, mostly in the aroma. Quite complex and good.
