Draft pour at ballast point in little Italy. Red with white head. Malty bread and winey. Good shit smcolw (617) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - MAR 22, 2015
Little to no head, but there’s sone streaky lace. Dark brown where light shines through.
Darker malt aroma. Not really toasted or chocolate, but true to style.
The flavor is high in alcohol, dark malt (without toast or chocolate), and mild hop. Strong alcohol swallow.

Keg at the Little Italy Tasting Room, SD, 12/11/14.
Lightly hazed chestnut brown with a decent beige swirl and edgework.
Nose is caramel, toasted brown sugars, dark fruits, cake mix, light booze.
Taste comprises toffee, melow dark fruit rinds, dates, light spice, hoppy backnotes, nutty twang.
Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close.
Ok barley wine, not a huge amount of depth but a decent sipper none the less. 50belair (3680) - Florida, USA - NOV 14, 2014
Clear Amber pour with an off white head. Sweet malty aromas. The taste follows suit with mellow hoppy bitterness. Not overly hoppy sort of a blend between an American and English barley wine. Good body and mouthfeel. callmemickey (4561) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 6, 2014
Dark amber body, medium to thin pale tan head, spotty lacing. Toffee, caramel, earth, a spot of tootsie roll, florals. Medium to full bodied with moderate to gentle carbonation, light sweetness. PacNWDad (107) - Washington, USA - OCT 19, 2014
10/18/2014. On draft at Chuck’s 85th as part of a 4-Ballast Point beer sampler. Thick and dark, modest amount of off-white head, not much lace. Beer holds its own against the glass. Aroma is caramel, molasses, some herbal notes, a little musty (barrel?). Fairly sweet, with a hint of the bitter from the hops and some spiciness from the alcohol. Body is not as heavy as I would expect for a barleywine, oily, light carbonation, medium-long finish. Overall, very enjoyable for the last beer of the evening, fortunately just samplers or I would be in trouble. MrTipple (5956) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 17, 2014
