Pours a murky dark amber with a one finger tan head which fades to nice lacing. Aroma is of toasted sweet malts, burnt caramel, molasses, and dark fruits. Taste is similar to the aroma but has some nice medium hops and nice piney notes. Has a medium-full body with a creamy mouthfeel and a semi bitter, medium long finish. Overall, a tasty barley wine that hides its ABV very well. mensch (289) - Loveland, Colorado, USA - JUN 7, 2013
Memory of taster @ the brewery. Aroma is heavy on the burnt caramel and molasses. Smooth and strong. Arf! anders37 (26625) - Malmö, SWEDEN - APR 24, 2013
Draft @ Pizza Port Solana Beach, Solana Beach, CA. Pours a dark amber color with a longlasting off-white head. Has a fruity malty spicy weak yeasty dark fruit and caramel aroma. Sweetish malty spicy dark fruit and caramel flavor. Has a sweetish malty caramel dry dark fruit finish. DocJitsu (1978) - Pensacola, Florida, USA - MAR 30, 2013
Pours a copper brown with a light taupe head. It has a caramel and grapefruit nose. Caramel and chocolate flavors with some cherry and citrusy notes. The finish is sweet despite the competing esters. The mouthfeel is perfect for the style. It accentuates the flavors and bouquet perfectly. NeuroPliny (247) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 24, 2013
Served in a tulip glass from the tap at Ballast Point Brewery. Pours dark mahogany with a generous frothy head. Malty aroma with notes of molasses, oaky rum, and burnt sugar. There is a surprising hint of sourness. The flavor is rich in malts that is well balanced with an underlying subtle bitterness. Full body. A great barleywine overall.

On tap at Beer Revolution. Pours reddish brown with a modest beige head and a fruity aroma. There is a hearty red malt flavor with a dry finish. Less sweet adn more dry than most barleywines, but still pretty tasty. Zymurgeist2 (2246) - Redwood City, California, USA - FEB 17, 2013

Location: Draft at Cork City, 12/15/12
Aroma: The nose is fairly malty, with caramel, molasses, toffee, and some earthy hops
Appearance: It was served in a tulip, with a dark reddish color to the pour, and a beige head
Flavor: The flavor is medium sweet and fairly malty, with a solid earthy and a little citrusy bitterness
Palate: This one has a medium-full body, an average carbonation, and a bit of boozy heat
I thought this was some pretty good stuff. It has a bit of heat from the alcohol, but it doesn’t overpower the beer. It isn’t a perfect Barleywine or anything, but it is a more than solid offering.
10z for $10.00 of pure let down. Yeah this shot was WAAAYY overpriced but I paid it for a new rape, er I meant rate. Poured a pitch black body with an average to smaller creamy beige head. Aroma was rather subdued even after sitting for some time. Notes of chocolate, light molasses and a hint of toffee. Medium bodied with decently strong carbonation for a BarleyWine. Flavor of light chocolate, brown bread, grains, cold coffee???? Is this the right beer??
