Served from tap at the brewery. Appearance is clear bodied amber hue with no real head. The aroma and flavors of this barley wine are more English tasting with the malt profile. A damn fine beer, I would drink it until my liver gave way. Nothing offensive at all, just beer bliss. My favorite of all the 3 sheets variations, very hoppy, bold, sweet, bitter, really a complex beer that i think is at its peak right off the bat.

On-cask at Stone 11/16/07. Pours a reddish brown color with a thick white head that leaves lots of spider web lace down the glass. Red fruit and alcohol on the nose. I get the same kind of red fruit taste that I got on the nose, a good bit of malt on the palate, and of course some booze. Surprisingly thin, but not too thin. Subdued but still vibrant carbonation. ’Brien’s: Dark amber brown with a small (bar pour) light tan head. Aroma is light and sweet with dark fruit. Flavor starts malty and sweet with a little burnt caramel and some citrus finishing lightly orange rind bitter. Smooth light palate.
Valley Brew tasting Feb 2007 - Aroma and flavor are sweet caramel with sharp piney hops. Palate is sweet and tart. Not too complex but still very tasty. Probably suffering from palate fatigue at this point. I would like to try it again. Lagunitasfan (1323) - San Diego, California, USA - DEC 4, 2008
On tap at Stone. Smells sharp and spicy. Tastes hot of alcohol, like it needs to settle down a bit. Bubblegum? Spicy and bitter, like aspirin a bit, but still really good.
