Served in a tulip glass from the tap at Ballast Point Brewery. Pours dark mahogany with a generous frothy head. Malty aroma with notes of molasses, oaky rum, and burnt sugar. There is a surprising hint of sourness. The flavor is rich in malts that is well balanced with an underlying subtle bitterness. Full body. A great barleywine overall.

Deep ruby red pour - beautiful in the light.with a good amount of tan head. Aroma is caramelized malts, piney hops, toast, brown sugar and booze - quite the conglomerate. Flavor is similarly quite boozy...lots of sweet malt, brown sugar, and a good bitterness throughout - finishes bitter. Palate is not thick but oily - this one drinks as though its higher than 9% - quite ’hot’. Wonder how one of these would do with some years in the cellar...good, but far from great offering. Draft at Tria Taproom. Very dark clear garnet pour with a fair amount of soapy beige froth. Splashes of lace. Medium-dark malts. Somewhat sweet on top but finishes mostly dry. Plums and prunes. Black grapes. Toffee. Carob. Molasses. Coffee candy. Pomegranate.

On tap. 2015 vintage. Pour a mahogany color with full head. Aromas of lemongrass, brown sugar and dry sweet malts. Flavors of toasted malts, citrus, alcohol, and a bit of cough syrup. Still harsh.

On tap at tap house pours out a crisp brownish amber topped with a small head. nose is rich caramel heavy malts and a light citrus hop. Taste is more of the heavy malts and a nice sweetness with a grapefruit pithy end.
