Prepare to walk the plank to an Ale of overwhelming proportions. More hops & more malts than any land lubber can handle. After this experience...your tongue will be buckled. The I.B.U.’s (International Bitterness Units) are off the scale on this ale. Be forewarned, those with a timid palate, this is not a wee beer! Handcrafted in small batches for those sailing the seas in search of great ales.

Great. Aroma of hops and toasted grain. Redish brown. Taste cedar, roast beef, grapefruit, bitter, mild sweetness, earthy. Medium/thicker mouthfeel. Little alcohol taste for a 10 percenter. Outstanding.

Taster at the brewery. Amber color with nice tan head. Aroma is caramel and intense peaches cat piss hops (buckets of Simcoe?) Taste is more caramel, a bit overripe fruit, not too balanced to be honest. I usually like this style but this one could be much better.

7/4/15. On tap, Craft on Draft. Red pour with a nice khaki head, great lacing. Good aroma, citrus, pine, a nice balance of caramel and pale maltiness. Good flavor, balancing bitterness helps the maltiness and caramel, nuttiness, doughy, citrus, pine. Tasty.

Pours red with a lasting tan head. Aroma of spice, malt and grassy hops. Similar taste with a nice palate.

Bottle: moderate haze, red brown, medium head and nice lace. Honey malt, hops, dense but not lifted. Dry, not sour but very bitter. Loads of flavor. Lacks fruit but very intense hops and malt. Very high CO2 that provides a freshness you would not expect at this alcohol level. Very good. Not great.

badhack (554) - San Francisco, California, USA - JUN 6, 2015
Pours dark red/amber, good carbonation, well balanced between rich malt and heavy hopping. A bit sticky, not too sweet, citrus, pine, floral.

Very smooth, easy drinking beer for its strength and bitterness. Actually it seems quite well balanced.

Hazed murky brown lacing grey head. Smells of prunes and booze and brown sugar. Bitter little fucker. Raisin, booze, cinnamon, and grapefruit. Not what I expected from an impy red. Wonder if I got the barley wine?
