The red ale to end all red ales! This is definitely an acquired taste and should have been called pallette wrecker. I digress that it is a tongue buckler indeed. Pours a deep, dark Amber with a pillowy white head. The aromas and flavors are devilishly dank hops in harmony with heavenly rich toffee, caramel and sweet cereal. The finish is juicy citrus and sawmill fresh pine. ChiefBeer12 (81) - Irvine, California, USA - APR 29, 2012
Bottle. Aroma of malt, hops, and slightly vegetal. Pours dark red brown with a creamy head. Taste is phenomenal. Hope, hops, more hops and a great malty backbone to back it up. Finish lingers forever. Awesome beer. jaymobrown (1845) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 5, 2013
Awesome. Big hop taste. Lots of sugar and orange peel. Lors of alcohol. a good beer all around. liquidhedonism (289) - Beaverton, Oregon, USA - JAN 17, 2015
22 oz bottle. Aroma: malty, nutty, and piney, with hints of caramel, toast, resin, grapefruit, and barnyard. Taste/Palate: crisp and sweet; finishes with a long bitterness. dwyerpg (6180) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - JAN 30, 2012
Excellent aroma. Tons of hops and caramel malts. This is intense. Strong hops throughout with a long lasting strength. Really good. In fact, I drank this down so fast, it was probably the beginning of the downfall for me at the festival.

Itzjerm (2866) - Taft, Tennessee, USA - JUN 7, 2013
UPDATED: JUN 9, 2013 Its true its that good, perfect in every way except aroma.

Pours deep dark amber with thick creamy tan head. Aroma is sweet malt and bright piny, citrusy hops. Taste is like sweet caramel malt upfront that fades into juicy citrus hops on the follow through. Aftertaste is lingering bitter pine and citrus hoppiness with a touch of alcohol warming. Palate is crisp and sticky. Overall a very hop forward, but very balanced strong ale. Appearance: Deep redwood; Fluffy, tan head; good lace; medium carb activity
Smell: Pineapple; Woody/Floral hops; Black Cherry; Caramel sweetness
Taste: Black Cherry; Plum; Woody/Floral hops; Orange rind; Alchohol
Mouth-feel: Balanced; Medium Body; Big Carbonation; Dry Finish
Overall: Wonderful West Coast style Red. The ample malt sweetness is nicely balanced by the hops

Very smooth, easy drinking beer for its strength and bitterness. Actually it seems quite well balanced.
