3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
This was actually kind of disappointing. Slightly over-roasted aroma, with some dark chocolate, vanilla bean and coffee, but the barrel aging does not give the typical tannic qualities that it would normally give a beer of this stature. Overkill in its other qualities.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
After trying the newly released bottles of Ballast Point Victory At Sea Coffee Imperial Porter I realized this was a different brew.
Draft at SDFOB 2007. Pours a midnight black with a tan head. Plenty of chocolate and coffee to the nose. Follows to the taste. Nice oat, oak, and roasted malt too. Mouth a little chalky. Very good.
