Pours black with a brown head. Aroma is malt, roastiness, chocolate, coffee, vanilla and some woody notes. Taste is medium sweet leading to a roasty finish. Amazing! abad (3) - USA - JAN 7, 2014 does not count
Draft at Uber in Seattle. Dark black with some brown filtered light, big thick tan foam. Dry dark coffee, some tobacco leaf. Slight smoky funk, big tartness. Lovely and rich. Bitter coffee, smoke, very nice northropfrye (3506) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - JAN 5, 2014

Black. Tan head. Pretty. Chocolate and tobacco. Some dark seafoam candy. Just a touch of booze, and a hint of dark fruits. Really nice.

Pours pitch-black with 0,5-finger mocca coloured head. Aroma has tons and tons of coffee, too much in my opinion. There is also little vanilla-like woodiness and hints of roots and herbs. Taste has also a lot of coffee, but not as much as in the aroma. Also licorice and chocolate are present, with almost chili-like spiciness and little vanilla. Palate is full and little sharp. Too much coffee in my opinion, which makes this very challenging to drink. Especially with a bomber. ACHops (1566) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JAN 4, 2014
On tap @ Chuck’s 85th. Pours thick inky black with a medium thin lacy mocha colored head. Aroma is roasty charred malt, vanilla, and dark coffee. Taste is rich creamy dark malt with charred oak flavors. Big notes of coffee, almond, and fresh vanilla bean are all present. Amazing rich beer, very easy drinking. Can’t imagine what the bourbon barrel version of this would be like... JPDurden24 (1675) - Chandler, Arizona, USA - JAN 1, 2014
2013 bottle. Black pour with a tan head. Black coffee espresso aroma. Big coffee flavor with just enough vanilla notes. More coffee than in year’s past, but still freakin tasty. bookman10 (1112) - Osseo, Minnesota, USA - JAN 1, 2014
Pours a deep brown with minimal, creamy head. Aroma of coffee and vanilla, along with roasted grains, burnt toast. Flavor is marked by the combination of vanilla and coffee, along with some licorice, some leather, a bit of caramel sweetness. This is a really nice, balanced porter and a great winter warmer type of beer. tcane7 (1674) - Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 1, 2014
Growler pour. Pours black with thin mocha head. Nose of green pepper, vanilla, coffee. Medium body, smooth coffee flavor, vanilla.
