COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Two of the worlds oldest beverages join forces to conquer your palate. Victory at Sea embodies the art of masterful brewing by infusing a velvety Imperial Porter with pure vanilla flavor and specially-selected, hand roasted coffee. The addition of cold brewed coffee to the beer lends a subtle roasted flavor to this robust imperial porter, blending perfectly with rich vanilla and caramel undertones. By uniting two San Diego brewing traditions, Caffe Calabria freshly brewed coffee and Ballast Point beer, we have successfully created an artisanal masterpiece.

On tap at the brewery in San Diego. Served in a tulip glass. Rich creamy brown head over blackness. Coffee, molasses, and hazelnut on the nose. More bitter hoppy notes than the aroma would suggest giving it a nice surprise. This screams coffee and vanilla throughout but it is well balanced with dry hoppy bitterness. Great imperial porter in its greater than expected complexity.

Bottle from Rickfifty, thanks a lot! Pours black, with a thin, barely covering layer of light gray head. Coffee, peas, some vanilla and smoke nose. Coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla, smoke, leather, red fruit and berries. Heavy and roasted flavour, feels like a dessert on its own. Sweet, with heavy bitterness as well. Thick, full body. Medium, fizzy carbonation. Very good! A bit too roasted flavour to be absolutely super, but again, very good!

Bottle. Teku. Pitch black with small to moderate light brown head. Poor head retention and lacing. Moderate vanilla and coffee notes, pretty mild. Moderate malty profile - grainy, moderately roasted. Taste is semi-sweet with moderate bitter notes, increasing thru the degustation. Finish is moderately sweet, vanilla, coffee, slightly ashy. Medium body, oily and creamy texture, soft to average carbonation. ABV is extremely well hidden here. In overall nice, creamy and silky imperial porter with enough vanilla and coffee notes. Good brew.

355ml bottle. Pours pitch black, with tanned frothy head. Coffee and vanilla, bit of roasted malts. Creamy mouthfeel. Vanilla is too strong for this to be my all time favorite, but very good none the less.
