3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured from a bottle, San Diego. Very refreshing and pleasant cold. A great summer beer, not pretentious or ridiculous.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured medium gold, nice head. Aroma of pale malts and floral hops. Flavor matched, honey accented malts over floral hops. Crisp, bitter finish. A bit more hoppy and bitter than a traditional Kolsch IMO, which is OK. Nice beer.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle poured into Kolsch glass. Little aroma. Slight line notes. Medium carbonation. Slight but enjoyable aftertaste. A good rep of the style of which I’m not a fan. Good to have after mowing the lawn but otherwise unremarkable.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours clear golden yellow with a small white foam. Smells lightly sweet and lightly hoppy. Taste is light fruity with a subtle bitterness. Light-bodied with a wet texture and soft mouth-carbonation, Ballast Point California Kölsch (Pale Ale) finishes with a smooth crispness.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
It’s a bit odd that California Kolsch (or Yellowtail Pale Ale, as it was previously called), is Ballast Point’s flagship beer. The brewery has become strongly associated with its hoppy beers, so a light-bodied, clean German-style Lager seems like an unusual place to start. Still, it clearly worked out, didn’t it? California Kolsch pours a little darker than the usual golden-pale color. Yeast aromas and subtle herbal hops. Tastes like bread and finishes with grassy hop bitterness. Very smooth, easy-going feel. A nice one for the summertime.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A- Malty, sweet grains,
A- Amber color, clear liquid, white head.
T- Bubble gum, lemon zest, caramel, malty.
P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, malty finish.
O- Kolsch, Pale Ale, whatever it is, it’s a special beer. Not necessarily amazing, but very drinkable. A bit of bubble gum yeast in the flavor and lots of caramel malts. Not bad at all.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a clear orange Amber with a frothy white head. Very active carbonation. Aroma of lemon zest and straw. The taste is light. The slight bit of tartness dissipates quickly and is replaced by a subtle yet spicy bitterness that lingers. Very creamy mouthfeel. Light and refreshing with a crisp finish.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
330ml bottle (thanks martjoobolut). Clear golden color. Small size, bubbly beige head, disappears. Malty, grainy, sourish, faint fruity in aroma. Sweet, malty, citrus in taste. Lemonish citrusy hops in aftertaste. Quite bland and boring. Why is it under style kolsch?
