3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Love me some Ballast Point Brewing...
Pours a hazy gold with a white head. Aroma is pleasant: caramel, bread, some resin, light floral, dough, some alcohol, some banana, hints of smoke and vanilla.Taste is nicely balanced... light body, thin feel, oily feel, average carbonation, slightly bitter finish. I enjoyed this brew paired wit a steak salad and it went along quite nicely. Much better than the Alaskan Summer I had just befo.
Keepin’ it gangsta.
Pleasant malty aroma. Medium white head, hazy golden color. Medium sweet, light bitterness. Medium to high carbonation. ChrisOfstad (454) - Hamar, NORWAY - NOV 6, 2017
UPDATED: NOV 6, 2017 Bottle at Vista village Pub. Clear Golden with little head. Malty aroma and taste. shadey (2171) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - OCT 31, 2017
12oz bottle. Clean and dry without a huge hop presence. I like this (lower) alcohol, session-able beers, especially when they aren't short on flavor. The malts are light but substantive with cereal notes. The hops are more on the grassy side. Everything comes together seamlessly. bassbug66 (23) - - OCT 20, 2017
Editor’s Note: Previously known as Yellowtail Pale AleThe beer that launched Ballast Point. Our original Pale Ale is a rich golden brew, crafted with aromatic German hops and rounded out with a blend of American and Munich malts. While it’s hopped like a lager, we ferment it like an ale to create a smooth, bright taste that has just a hint of fruit and spice. It’s extremely drinkable, like a Kolsch should be, yet complex, like a good craft beer demands.

Bottle from Facebook in Menlo Park, CA. Aroma is sweet nuts, acorns maybe. Taste is sweet and mildly nutty since it's a Kolsch and ultimately fairly boring.

Draft taproom. Pours golden with a white head. Aroma is sweat, grasses. Flavor is biscuit, bitter grasses, burnt caramel. Solid. Perhaps not completely kolsch like. geologyguy (1687) - Columbia, South Carolina, USA - JUL 25, 2017
Light but very good smell of spices...kinda like bubblegum...nice cloudy look...taste is lighter than expected...more watery with some very light sweetness (bubblegum) And some lemongrass...too watery though...at black market pre-opening... jhijjawi (2) - - JUL 8, 2017 does not count
Not great for me with an aftertaste I don't like. .............................

LCI. Uit de fles geschonken. Nice lager-ish beer, malty and fresh. Nothing special. erickok (6036) - Leuven, BELGIUM - JUN 3, 2017
To my surprise this really feels like a kolsh. Very easy to drink. Smooth malts, light sweetness. Surprisingly good! (On tap at Parkside)
