9 Mar 2013, cask at Ballast Point. Black. Nose is slightly meaty, burnt grain. Med body and fizzy for a cask ale. Chili burn right away but it isn’t bad. Just noticeable. Slightly sweet dark chocolate but that’s behind a rather prominent chili burn. Chili reminds me of slightly vinegary hit peppers in a jar.
Definitely fun but not a regular drinking ale.

Black pour with a tan head. Nose is quite spicy and pepper forward. Chocolate, lots of roasted malt, coffee, and more pepper. The flavor is not bad at first. You get a lot of the roasted malt along with some chocolate and coffee. But, the pepper flavor and intense heat quickly comes through and really ruins the ability to taste anything else. Not sure why they keep making these (or why I keep trying them). dcschiller (2208) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - MAR 7, 2013
On cask at Old Grove. Pours near black with khaki head. Aroma is chocolate, chili. Taste is sweet chocolate with some roast and some heat that quickly builds. Medium bodied with a good deal of creaminess because of the nitro. After 2 sips the heat is quite prominent, but I love it.
