A traditional dark beer based on old recipes. "Baltika" brews this beer with the best dark and light malts with the addition of superior hop types and a special strain of yeast. Crystal-clear water and the secret touch of "Baltika"’s brewers make this a beer of unsurpassable quality.
The ingredients are water, caramel malt and burnt roasted malt, maltose syrup and hops. 17°

470 ml bottle @home,bb 09/03/2018. Black with red tint. Weak aroma of malt and raisins. Taste is sweety, malty with touch of bitter. Meh.

At last I’ve found it. Now really rare even in Moscow. Clear deep brown beer with moderate tan head. The aroma is estery, prunes and raisins. Caramel. Light nail polish. Light to medium body. Medium dry to medium sweet taste. Massive caramel. Bready. Dried fruit. Nail polish. Low to light bitterness. Looses on the palate at ending. Pity.

It must be 15 years since I last drank this. It pours near-black with a tan foam, on the nose are sultanas, a little treacle and coffee, a hint of cocoa and port wine. An initial creamy sweetness turns roasty, dry and lightly burnt-bitter on the palate. Complex dry-sweet roasty maltiness in the aftertaste, with notes of liquorice, treacle toffee and raisins. A classic Baltic Porter, in the proper Baltic vein.

Pours a dark brown to black with a thin tan head. Light carbonation with some lacing. Light aroma of roasted malts. A tad thin with some dark malts and a lightly smokey finish. Taste is somewhat earthy with some woody notes. Not bad but not as enjoyable as I had hoped for.

Poured from the 16 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a dark black color with a medium sized tan head. The aroma is black licorice and malt. The taste is malt and black licorice. a very nice porter.

500 mL bottle shared by ebone1988 for the book. The pour is a thin and clear dark brown with some ruby and garnet around the edges. This isn’t the black Baltic Porter that I was expecting. The aroma is really sweet. It’s got a messy syrup happening. There is a light roast and then it falls apart. The flavor is interesting. Roasty syrup and an astringent clear licorice thing happening. There is a light peat to it that blows. The mouth feel is watery and light with a bright ish carbonation and a lingering sweetness. Ugh.

Bottle shared with koleminer20, #200 for the book! Bottle from Merchants. Aroma is sweet, dark fruit, slight roasted malt, candy, eh. Appearance is dark brown red, light brown head, would be clear. Taste is metallic, roasted malt, dark fruit, sweet, booze, candy, strange. Mouthfeel is medium body, light carbonation, sweet roasted malt booze aftertaste. Overall, it’s not awful, but not especially good. 5 4 5 4 13

Dark brown, almost black with a brown head. Aroma is dark dried fruit. The flavor is a complex mix of fruitcake and coffee liqueur. The big issue for me is the not-so-big body. Thin and even slightly watery for a Baltic Porter, even for a moderate one a 7% ABV. Note: better as it warms up.

Pours black, small brown head, no retention. Aroma is pretty weak, caramel and alcohol. Taste is surprisingly good, nice caramel taste, hints of coffee, roasty malt. Defenitly more than i expected from Baltika.

beerstar88 (587) - Bavaria, GERMANY - MAY 8, 2017
