Bottle from Market Street Wine Shop Downtown Charlottesville. Very light and pale orangish yellow with a huge head, but little lacing or retention. Bitter, citrus and grassy aroma. This beer is freaking sweet... high fructose corn syrup kinda sweet. I guess the maltose syrup listed in the ingredients on the bottle is responsible for that. Cloying and overwhelming. It comes in a big 51 oz plastic bottle for 1.89. It is alcoholic and sweet, but ultimately better than most American Malt Liquors, and it is cheaper. BeerandBlues2 (13697) - Escondido, California, USA - SEP 9, 2013
Bottle at home. Pours clear gold with a medium, frothy white head, medium retention with spotty lacing. Aroma is grain, corn, and straw malt, light perfume and vegetable notes. Flavor is malty with faint hops and bitterness and a sweet finish. Medium body and carbonation. bierkoning (13607) - La Tropica/Doarp, NETHERLANDS - JUL 23, 2002
Only faint malty and hoppy aroma. Alocoholic, bit bitter and herbal. Thin for such a high alocohol lager. The dark Baltika beers are much better. Dogbrick (13547) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JAN 6, 2010
Sample at the "From Russia With Suds" tasting on 01/02/10: The beer is a clear yellow-gold color with a thin white head that disappears pretty quickly. Stringy lacing on the glass. Sweet malt in the nose with a metallic tinge in the background. Medium, clean body with a fruity character and malt and hops flavors. The beer also has a boozy element but not in a good way. The finish is fruity and devolves to an alcohol aftertaste that is not overly pleasant. Below average overall.

500ml bottle shared with Finn enjoying the football match between Spain and Italy on TV. White, frothy head resting for a while on top of a clear, late straw coloured body. Moderate lacing on the glass. Mild aroma of grain and fruit. Sweet fruity taste with weight on overriped banana. Missing bitterness, only an alcohol tint to the ending. Rather cloying mouthfeel (thanks to Per Einar for bringing the bottle from Arkhangelsk to Tromsø, 22.06.2008). Bov (13221) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - JUN 30, 2007
courtesy of Laurent Mousson - clear and pale golden-yellow colour with a chaotic white foam; aroma of grilled almonds and solvant, some hints of pear too; thick and very sweet, full-bodied, long malty sweetish finish with fruity and alcoholic notes - awful bu11zeye (13140) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - DEC 23, 2008
(50cl bottle, courtesy of Lumpy) Pours a clear yellow body with a small white head. Aroma of lemon, mustiness, metallic, pesticide, and soap. Flavor of sweet malt, alcohol, and grain. slowrunner77 (12586) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 5, 2014
"Another Baltika from BevMo. Cheap brews...i’ve had some quality ones. This is kinda good for a lager/strong lager, but ultimately forgetable. Alcohol shows through some very light grassy hops and honey sweetness. Nothing is off too much, but everything is just below average." jcwattsrugger (12517) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - NOV 12, 2007
16.9oz bottle-pours a foamy off white head and yellow/gold color. Aroma is sweet grain/light malt, faint alcohol. Taste is sweet grain/light malt-caramel, adjunct/corn characteristics, secondary spice hops, faint alcohol. OK carbonation. Thanks Joe for sharing.
