Dark yellow. Slightly over carbonated. Aroma of corn. Taste is slightly sweet with a sharp finish. Wulfstan (509) - California, USA - OCT 15, 2007
UPDATED: FEB 14, 2008 Odd. The description at the store sounded good, but I apparently had no idea what I was getting when I bought this. It was ok and had some pleasant elements but it neither smelled nor tasted remotely like beer. Pouring a deep golden yellow with bubbles that soon stilled, it had a white head that dissipated quickly but left a thin, sticky, persistent white head that stayed to the end. Its aroma was pungent and distinct, but smelled just sweet, with a faint, vague musky fruitiness like old, sweet grapes and alcohol. The taste was largely the same, tasting primarily just thickly sweet and alcoholic, with the same vague fruitiness & perfuminess of thick, sweet cheap white wine. It left a faint metallic finish. After I ate some chips, it tasted downright nasty - rough, harsh, alcohol and vague perfume. The whole is a rough, thickly sweet, alcoholic taste with a thick, sticky palate. The full palate and taste have some good points, it certainly doesn’t lack flavour, and I will drink this if not eating food with it, but it doesn’t really taste like beer at all. zebracakes (1339) - Washington DC, USA - JAN 6, 2008
Bottle. This is one of those beers that I drink at Gooski’s in Polish Hill, Pittsburgh. Why? Because it’s cheap and will get you nicely buzzed. Somehow in the darkness of that dive bar, 9 just seems to make sense.
The beer tastes malty and the alcohol is not well blended. I wouldn’t drink this beer outside of Gooski’s.

Bottle. Pours yellow with a white head. Light sweet malt aroma, some trace hops. Medium body. Lightly sweet flavor, not much else. Not that good. leaparsons (10765) - Wigston, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - NOV 4, 2002
Another Russian beer with a Kestrel Super-like character. It looks anemic and has a light, sweet taste. All alcohol and no flavour.

i'm not much of a baltika fan, or a russian beer fan for that matter. this actuallt had a pleasant full hoppy finish but was way too sweet in the middle to be enjoyable to drink Hopistotle420 (1177) - Amherst, Massachusetts, USA - NOV 15, 2002
Super pale yellow hue. Smells like heineken. White head which clings around for the whole beer. Tastes like an american malt liquor, nothing special at all. It will getcha drunk, but thats all about its good for. Poopie. zborgerd (187) - Illinois, USA - MAY 23, 2003
UPDATED: MAY 26, 2003 "Baltika Extra" was the name on my label. How in the world do they get 8% alcohol content in this "brew"? Well, being that it's malt liquor, they probably just added vodka to beer and called it a night. I'm not impressed. Color is light and smells kinda like corn beer. Boring, with no complexity at all. It's passable, maybe as something that can go along with pizza or something, but that's about it. I'd drink it before other malt swill like Cobra or Magnum. vwsteggie (684) - Paxton, Massachusetts, USA - AUG 25, 2003
Has a light yellow color with some carbonation and a hop smell. Taste is somewhat acidic and has a alcohol flavor. Overall a strong brew that I didn't like too much. Volgon (2761) - Manchester, New Hampshire, USA - MAY 28, 2004
Hazy yellow with a thin white head. Cereal aroma with some stale fruits. Fizzy palate, with some wateriness. I may be rating this a bit high, but for the price this is good beer.
