Excited to have had the opportunity to have tried this.
The appearance was a semi-red to somewhat purple hued color with a quickly dieing head. No lace.
The aroma had some sharp sweet and tart raspberries up front, then a little bit of zesty citrusy hops. But the kick of jalapeno doesn’t set in right away, waited about a minute and then I got it.
The flavor started sweet and tart through the blend of raspberries to citrus. Jalapeno came in the same way as in the aroma and guided the aftertaste in a semi-balanced manner. Light sweet to spicy sort of finish (skipped out on the tartness).
The feel was about medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it. Jalapeno harshness does distract but I figured this would happen so there isn’t any deduction in points on this one. ABV felt fine.
Overall, for the most part, this was quite interesting. But I don’t think it’s as much as a palate wrecker as BandWagon may think. I’d still have again if I could get it. kramer (6682) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 20, 2014
Tap. Pours a slightly hazy and murky dark amber body with a small wispy beige head. The nose is a mix of caramel and raspberry with a slight hint of green pepper. Pretty tasty smelling actually, and doesn’t seem like it will be super sweet. The flavor is pretty bland up front, it all happens on the finish. Generic tasting sweet Amber Ale up front, then the raspberry comes out. The jalapeño emerges very late on the finish, then lingers for ever. Tastes just like biting into a pepper. Light to medium bodied with some soft minimal carbonation. Interesting beer for sure, but not so sure I’d order a second one of them. machfive55 (358) - Columbia, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 28, 2013
I appreciate what they are trying to do with this beer. I think the raspberry is very nice in the beer but I do not like heat in my beer, only my wings. So that is why I cannot bring myself to rate this beer very well. I could only drink a small amount of this beer at a time. Also, the jalapeno adds a vegetal flavor that I do not like in beer. merc7186 (3142) - North Tonawanda, New York, USA - OCT 2, 2013
Carried over from Beer Advocate.
The beers appears to have the dark characteristics of the raspberry syrup that they used, dark with a purple hue. The nose comes off with strong jalapeno smell. The taste comes exactly as advertised, a raspbberry jalapeno taste...it starts with a light raspberry then the jalapeno just dominates the taste. The after taste is all jalapeno with every breathe you take for the next minute. All in all, it was exactly as advertised but nothing I would seek out. It is one of those beers that you can say you tried it once but wouldn’t drink a pint of it. murphym45 (769) - New York, New York, USA - DEC 1, 2010
Tap @ Ithaca BrewFest.
Bit of raspberry on the nose, but not much. Taste is fairly spicy with strong pepper taste, a bit too intense for my liking. An interesting concept but not executed very well.

On tap. Pours a nice reddish brown with a tannish head. Taste is immediately spicy, a very strong bite on the tongue. Fades nicely, and the spicy pepper flavor doesn’t last too long. Not a ton of fruitiness, but there is some in the finish. Intriguing beer. reliantkcar (102) - USA - AUG 14, 2010

Nice reddish brown color with a small head. Aroma initially has noticeable raspberry with a touch of jalapeno spice. Flavor is sweet and hot at the same time. Very well done. Nice jalapeno flavor and the right amount of fruity sweetness. Jblauvs (1358) - Chester, Vermont, USA - JUN 1, 2010
Dark Amber pour with a fluffy offwhite head. Aroma is sweet seedy raspberries, caramel malt, and a bit of pepper heat at the end. Mouthfeel is medium. Flavor is chocolate covered raspberries, caramel malt, a bit of pepper vegetable, definitely some heat on the finish, but not the tongue lashing I feared. Nicely done jalapeno beer with a bit of sweet fruit to balance out the heat.
