This is complex and full flavoured, with sweet and roast malt flavours, balanced by a pungent hop bitterness and dry hop flourish in the finish.

Hand-pulled pint in my local Wetherspoons on 8 Apr 2013.

Deep amber body leaning towards ruby in the dimly lite area I was sitting: on top a full head foaming biege coloured head, good lacing too.

Fruity, floral aroma with a malty overtone.

Malty at first with a fruit flavoured middle, slightly bitter hop and dry finish. Strange brew really, a good mix of tastes but not too balanced. Too dry in the mouth for my taste buds but others may rave about it.

Body depth was fine and overall it was OK, but I’ll not be having another one.

Scopey (15885) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 8, 2013
Cask at Willow Walk, Ldn Victoria. It pours clear deep amber with a medium beige head. The nose is earth, wood, light farmyard, leather and faint jamminess. The taste is earth, leather, dark fruit, spice, very savoury, varnish, decent bitterness and a touch of alcohol with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Ok, but the alcohol is too prevalent.

Cask at Briar Rose, Brum. Great lacing. Really enjoyed this. Nice initial fruity balance, then slight nutty, dry bitterness to end. Smooth. MT = dead and gone = not sad at all.

Cask. Rust red ale with a decent light tan head. Nose is very light, but there's a touch of red berries. No such subtlety in the taste - a full POW of hops in the first instance, dry and pungent with grapefruit and orange. There's a touch of "woodiness" there too. It catches your nose and forces you to seek deeper. Some nice roastiness once you do - wood, straw. Really impressive with a strong dry finish. You need a drink after the drink.

Leighton (22555) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 5, 2013
Cask at the Crosse Keys, JDW - London. Pours clear amber with a fine, frothy beige head. The aroma holds some juicy pine, a bit of ripe citrus, toasty grass. Light to medium sweet with fairly assertive bitterness, some earthy pine, toasty bread, orange. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly resinous to finish, toasty pine, dry caramel and bread, lingering sticky grass. Pretty nice beer overall.
