March 2013. JDW, Rochester. Mmm. This is interesting. A tasty beer with good malt character and strong bittering hops which are quite herby. The malt is quite bready and there are pleasant and intriguing yeast notes. A damn fine beer, though not quite gorgeous enough to be a firm favourite. [Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading] Deep amder-red with a moderate cream head and a light fizz. Toffe up front with a smattering of pine & grapefruit in a lightly bitter finish. Seemed a bit simple for a beer of this ABV, but pleasant enough. cgarvieuk (25987) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - APR 26, 2013
