COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tim Sanborn and John Schlea have travelled to Banks’s Brewery, in the West Midlands, to brew this copper-coloured beer especially for this Wetherspoon real-ale festival. The spicy and citrus orange aromas lead to a full-bodied flavour and strong biscuit malt character, completed by more orange citrus notes in the finish. Hops: Admiral, Challenger, Pilgrim, Target

Cask @ Cuthbert Brodrick, Leeds. Clear copper with a creamy head. Herbal infused bitter akin to tea leaves, which is evident in both aroma and taste.

Cask Half Pint – JDW Fest Autumn 2016 in Oct 2016 - Clear copper in colour. Beige head. Fruity; orange citrus. Spicy. Malty; biscuity malts, toasty, toffee. Hoppy; earthy hops. Sweet-bitter citrus fruity spicy and malty. Increasingly bitter into finish. Very drinkable. Liked it. Nice beer. (2016-10-12)

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms, Bristol October 2016. Amber in colour with a moderately sized, off-white, head. Aroma of red fruits and leafy hops. Flavour was sweetish with caramel, more fruit, slightly toasty malts and a moderately bitter finish. Fine.

Cask, festival ale, 1/2 pint, hand-pulled at Society Room, Glasgow on 10 Oct 2016, weak toffee aroma, amber brown with a thin bubbly cream head and good lacing, raisin toffee flavour, creamy, sweet, smooth.

Cask half pint at The Flying Chariot (JDW), Heathrow Airport terminal 2. Copper colour, off-white head. Malty aroma with nuts and caramel, hints of mild spices. Smooth and malty flavour, not too sweet, tolerable hops in the finish.

tombyars (1774) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - OCT 27, 2016
Tasted this in the Salt Cot, Saltcoats (JDW) on the 15th October 2016. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear copper in colour with a thin off white head. Aroma is malty with orange on the short nose. Thick resiny mouthfeel and good lacing. Mixed malts gives a moist fruit cake base with strong syrup notes of watermelon, pomegranate, Seville orange evident. Sweet citrus flavours to the big hop resin notes in the long aftertaste giving a strong fruit presence. Finish is malty with booming syrup fruit now edging towards a drier marmalade flavour leaving pith notes on the palate. A decent ESB.

Tap at Tilly Shilling, Farnborough. Sweet malty aroma, cut through with citrus. Dark amber. Creamy off-white head, thanks to a sparkler. Bitter, with an underlying sweetness. The citrus comes through again. Light and creamy. Gradually develops a dry finish. Not bad.

Cask @ JDW Montgomery’s Tower, Shrewsbury. Pours clear deep amber, off white head. Aroma is leafy malts. Taste is smooth, leafy autumnal marmalade malts with a certain earthiness. Ok ESB.

Cask at the Booking Office. Pours clear amber with a thin off-white head. Aromas of resin, orange, light sweet notes. Taste is more of the same. Drinks to the strength. Spicy orange linger. Dry finish.

On cask at the Alexander Graham Bell.
Appearance - deep copper and with a creamy head.
Nose - oranges and biscuit at the back.
Taste - more of the same really. Burnt orange pith finish.
Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish.
Overall - good ESB.
