On tap @ Baran as "#2 Brown Ale". This is a near murky deep dark brown one. It has a nice medium sized heavy lacing brown head. The aroma is a bit surprising. In addition to the standard dark slightly roasted malty and chocolate touches there is a spicy, almost Christmas-spicy with cardamom and cookie dough. Not unpleasant at all. The carbonation is small but almost lively and the mouthfeel is soft oily. A nice hoppy, sweet and chocolaty flavor. This could easy be a winner. The roastiness is just enough to balance out the quite present chocolate and the strong hoppy flavors. One of the better I’ve had from these guys. Almost there! 08.03.2013 Foffern (1922) - Bodø, NORWAY - NOV 27, 2012
On tap at Baran. Pours a pretty hazy deep brown colour with a medium, and a bit creamy, beige head. A good dose of leather in the aroma along with nuts, roasted malt and Danish rye bread. A light and nice roasted flavour with lots of nuts, bread and coffee. Has a light and slick mouthfeel, and a light bitterness. An easy-drinking and decent brown ale. On tap @ Baran Cafe, Bergen. Pours a deep brown body with a medium creamy off-white head. Nose is nuts, dark chocolate and hints of grain, licorice and traces of salmiac. Taste is dark chocolate, cocoa, grain husks, licorice, salmiac and some metallic hints that fade over time. Dusty hops and biscuits in the back. Medium body and carbonation. OK, but a bit strange perhaps. gunnar (9178) - Sandnes, NORWAY - NOV 19, 2012
On tap at Baran, Bergen. Pours Coke colored with a small tanned head. Aroma of dark caramel and amber malts.chocolate and some yeasty esters. Taste is initially light sweet, traces of vanilla, dark red fruits, bitter chocolate. Medium bodied, light oily mouthfeel. Aftertaste is short, light bitter astringent coffee.Maybe this one need more time on storage to develop. Not bad, just not quite there, yet.
