Dark beautiful color, foam high with bubble and long falling off. Aroma of caramel and alcohol. In the taste, spices are added, something similar to coriander, alcohol is not so severe, slightly burning and sweet.

Bottle @ home. Dark brown colour, white foam. Nose is sweet malty, caramel, honey, plums. Light notes of iron. Ok.

vinivini (2381) - Gomel, BELARUS - APR 26, 2017
Pours deep brown with ruby highlights. Lush airy ivory coloured head. Stays for a few minutes. Well-lacing. The aroma is esters, caramel, dried fruit, minor chocolate & coffee. A hint of spicy hops. Medium body. Lively carbonated. Medium sweet flavour. Rich dark malts. Dried fruit. Chocolate. Coffee. Complex. Low bitterness still well detectable hops. Well hidden alcohol. Good.

Pours hazy dark brown with a small off-white head. The aroma contains malt, honey, chocolate and butterscotch - a bit one-sided. It tastes medium sweet and light bitter. Slick texture, fizzy carbonation, short finish.

Cristobal37 (1142) - Budapest, HUNGARY - APR 14, 2017
Dark brown a little head. Fruity and spicy yeast, sugary malt aroma. Light bodied, sugary cherry coke, some medicinal herb in the finish. Decent, nothing wrong with it, but kind of a run of the mill belgian ale. Mostly balanced but not so remarkable.

Bottle from Tesco. Classic Belgian aroma -. Color is deep brown with a little head. Higher voltage is visible overlapped by dark chocolate. Like not my cup of beer but okay.

33 cl bottle purchased @ So bière. Belle robe ébène avec une mousse non persistante. Très agréable au nez. Belles notes de miel avec une pointe de réglisse. L’alcool arrive en fond et rend cette bière très équilibrée.

33cl fliptop bb0/2017 (BL sampler 2017-2) . Sees the barley sugars of a Dopplebock through the coca cola lense of honey-studded and spiced (ginger? curacao peel, coriander?) Belgian Strong. Drinks easily like Dr Pepper, hence the recommended 5-6C serving temp. Liquorice, cranberry juice, overall alcopop coca cola. The fact this went from winter seasonal to year-round offering is telling of oldschool belgian post-Vandevelde brewing.

The beer looks great. The color of the beer is extremely dark brown, maybe even black. Strong light reveals a nice ruby red glow. The beer is very cloudy. On top, a nice almond coloured layer of soft rough foam is formed. Foam retention isn’t that great. The bulk of the foam collapses quickly, leaving a thin drape. Nice. The smell of the beer is also great. I smell a lovely warming winter beer. There are nice aroma’s of alcohol, warming and sweet. There is also nice sweet honey, which pairs really nice with the malts. I also smell some nice caramel and lovely liquorice tones. The smell is quite sweet, but not to sweet. The honey isn’t out of balance. Hops aren’t clearly present. This is no problem. The malt and honey aroma’s do the trick by themselves. The taste is also nice. Again, there is a lovely alcohol warmth, perfectly suitable of winter. Besides this, there are nice sweet honey flavours, without the honey being astringent. Besides honey, I also taste nice malts, giving also a tiny roast bitterness. There are some hoppy bitters present. All is in very good balance. It is a very taste beer. The palate of the beer is also good. The nice warming tingling of the alcohol goes together well with the medium high carbonation. Body is medium and the testure is a bit creamy, but not very. The finish is nice and long and contains some nice malts and honey sweets. All in all, a very good beer.

Douce mais robuste ! Une bière appréciable qui même si forte et parfumée se boit très bien en été
