In 1996, the brewery innovates and launches Barbãr, ale with honey.
Born of the ancestral know-how of a family brewery, Barbar beer will please you with its malt taste and subtle flavour of honey. It is brewed using water drawn from artesian wells on the site of the brewery, at Quenast, a small village to the south of Brussels. This area is well-known for the quality and the diversity of its beers.
Barbar beer is prepared from a secret and harmonious mixture of barley malts, hops and honey carefully selected by our Master Brewer. The traditional brewing method, associated with our unique strain of yeast, and the secondary fermentation in the bottle, gives Barbar the authentic flavour of a very special ale.

Gul. Doftar ljus limpa, honung och mogna äpplen. I smaken finns honung, ljust bröd och en fin fruktighet. Rätt sött men en fin beska på slutet gör att det blir ett riktigt trevligt öl. Provning på De Klomp

Demens (439) - Budapest, HUNGARY - OCT 27, 2016
0,33l bottle. Clear deep copper colour with slowly shrinking big foamy white head. Aroma: Now that is the deal. First, some metallic tone with a strong cherry and tutti fruitty aromas. Than candy sugar, biscuit, wine and cognac with strong yeasty (banana) caracter. This is the most complex aromatic beer that I ever smelled. Taste: Strong sweet start with a bit strange grape juice tone. Has a light bitter/sour mouthfeel. Creamy texture. Medium/full body with soft carbonation. Medium lasting sour/sweet finish. This is a quite interesting beer. Has some complex aromas. The taste is good but not spectacular.

Bierdimpfe (640) - Quebec, CANADA - OCT 16, 2016
Veiled honey color with storming activity. Creamy beige 3 finger sparkling head, lasting around 10-15 minutes, with strong legs. Flavors of caramel and honey, sweet grains, wheat, citrus, Belgian yeast, coriander, floral and herbal spices. Tender sweetness with zesty sharpness. Slick and smooth medium body with crispy carbonation. Medium strength finish, superb intensity and quite accessible, lingering sweet malts with a dash of honey. Low perception of alcohol, more treacherous than a Tripel. Soft delicious flavors. Very fresh and a pleasure to drink. Overall superb quality craft.
