In 1996, the brewery innovates and launches Barbãr, ale with honey.
Born of the ancestral know-how of a family brewery, Barbar beer will please you with its malt taste and subtle flavour of honey. It is brewed using water drawn from artesian wells on the site of the brewery, at Quenast, a small village to the south of Brussels. This area is well-known for the quality and the diversity of its beers.
Barbar beer is prepared from a secret and harmonious mixture of barley malts, hops and honey carefully selected by our Master Brewer. The traditional brewing method, associated with our unique strain of yeast, and the secondary fermentation in the bottle, gives Barbar the authentic flavour of a very special ale.

Bottle from Belgianbeershop.com. Served in the original Barbar glass. Thick white head that lasts very well. The beer is amber brown. Aroma: clear honey presence but also yeast and fruits are detected. Complex and sweet aroma. The taste is very well balanced and not too sweet as one might expect from a honey ale. Long finish. Barbar is one of the best, if not the best honey ale you can get.

Pours clear Amber with thick white foamy head. Sweet malty strong ale, with clear honey undertones, and a lightly bitter hoppy finish, with honey lingering in the aftertaste. Well balanced and very drinkable.

0.33 l bottle from 'belgiuminabox.com', best before December 2017. Clear, amber with a thin, frothy, almost stable, off-white head. Sweetish-malty, quite spicy, slightly yeasty and a little fruity aroma of caramel, honey, coriander, some clove and hints of citrus. Quite sweet, malty, rather spicy, slightly yeasty and a little fruity taste of caramel, lots of honey, coriander, vanilla, clove and a touch of citrus, followed by a medium long, moderately bitter, rather spicy, slightly yeasty and a bit warming finish. Medium body, slightly creamy and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. A bit over the top, rather heavy on the honey and the coriander, not really quaffable. Not really my cup of tea.

Pours clear amber with a small head. Aroma has honey and biscuit. Taste has much honey, candy sugar and sweet caramel. Short lasting honey finish...
